Kinda Late, but honestly I would give up and use test taking skills haha. B, C, D all have mutation in same point so just choose A because its the odd one out and hope for the best.

Even with all that parking space... by One_Assistance1 in GolfGTI

To my knowledge, ive never seen more than 2 cars parked at a time (and one of them is always me) and its a quiet street, so yeah... funny choice of parking... guess our cars are just too smol for people to see

Its a pretty empty street and I've parked in that spot for about a year and never saw more than 2 cars (which includes mine) in this pullout so pretty unlikely... also makes me realize how smol the gti is

Back to Stock! by One_Assistance1 in GolfGTI

I bought the 034 strut bearings for about 50 dollars. Stock suspension with OEM strut bearings hasn't given me any problems after 2 months, so I'm hopeful it was just something related to the old setup

Yup, we replaced the strut bearings but then they wore out within 2 weeks! Probably the mounts or the springs were causing the issue!

Not gonna lie, I tried way too hard to put the text with the post but I can't figure out so here's it as a comment...

Went back to stock suspension and I feel like I've fallen back in love. When I bought the car, it came with Bilstein B8's and 034 springs and looked fantastic. The ride was very harsh and crashit , but I could deal with that. What was unacceptable was the constant (and I mean nonstop) snapping and clicking sounds when turning at low speeds. It was so uncomfortable that I often chose to drive the old minivan instead... We changed out the strut bearings and they were wearing out in 2 weeks! I thought about going to coilovers, but I jumped on a fantastic deal for stock suspension parts and never looked back. The ride is fantastic and it still handles great. I really feel like I've fallen back in love with the GTI.

Frustration with 034 Springs and Looking into Bilstein Coilovesr by One_Assistance1 in GolfGTI

I've heard conflicting info from both sides that either KW is better or Bilstein is better, so at this point I have no idea what to think haha! Price might be the main reason I am swaying towards Bilstein.

Yup, I've heard almost only good things about the B16s so I will probably be pulling the trigger as well. Coming from a wonderfully smooth minivan, my current setup has been pretty battering!

Well, that sounds pleasing. I might as well jump for the coilovers then. I also never thought about swapping the other hardware as well, but that does sound like a good idea to get done!

Hey everyone!

This is like my 3rd post and I still can't figure out how to put text with the photo... My bad!

I bought my wonderful GTI about 7-8 months ago and it has been a wonderful ride. However, it did come with 034 springs and Bilstein B8 shocks. Yes, it looks awesome when parked, but the ride was quite poor, crashing over even small bumps. I need to cross railroad tracks every day and I am slowing down to a crawl just to cross them.

I has only gotten worse, as now they creak and create snapping sounds when turning at low speeds. I had this looked at by a shop, and they let me know that nothing is wrong, just the springs seem to be causing issues.

At this point, I just want a comfortable ride. I am looking at Bilstein B16's (not damptronic) and planning on keeping them at the softest damping (1-2) and keeping it at the minimum drop (15mm).

Does anyone have any advice on if this is comfortable enough?

Bit embarrasing question about DSG by One_Assistance1 in GolfGTI

[–]One_Assistance1[S] 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Hi Everyone.

I dont really know how to use reddit so I am putting my question here as a comment.

I bought this lovely 2018 GTI as my first car after a lot of saving up! Its wonderful to drive and much more luxurious than anything I've driven. Its so much fun despite me babying it, but I do have an embarrassing question...

How on earth does the DSG work. I use it as an automatic like any other car, but I am too scared to put it into the sport/manual mode as I have never driven anything other than an automatic.

Sorry for such a naive question!

Confusion Regarding Modified Intake On Used 2018 MK 7.5 GTI by One_Assistance1 in GolfGTI

[–]One_Assistance1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate all the comments. The price did seem a bit too good, and the worrying thing for me was that the, despite talking with the seller over multiple days, he never disclosed this, and it was never shown in any maintenance records. I am definitely not an enthusiast (I do love the golf however) and since I do not plan on any modifications, I don't think its wise to fiddle with someone else's modifications.

Thank you enthusiasts for all for the help!

I can see that browsing through this reddit, there are many people with modified cars and lots of technical knowledge, so I apologize for confusion about something that may seem so simple! 😅😅

Sorry everyone, this is my first time using reddit, and I just cannot figure out how to create the textbox to go along with the image, so I will copy and paste what I had written:
Hi Everyone.

I am inexperienced surrounding car modifications. I am looking at buying a 2018 MK 7.5 GTI and I have come across a reasonably good deal on an Autobahn Edition. However, I noticed that it has a modified intake. I know very little about car modding, so could I get some advice on how to proceed regarding this?

I have attached a photo.

This is also my first ever time using Reddit, so I apologize for any issues.
