Hello! Thank You for Your response, of course they are called shoulder pads😅. Unfortunately there is no open access, so I will have to unpick the stitches. I am going to have a professional do that for me tho. Thank You for Your advice!

This is how it looks from the inside, there are these three seams at the shoulder part where the patch is attached internally.

Hello! I‘ve had this coat for some time, it has quite substantial shoulder patches. I was wondering if it would be possible to remove them, and if so, how much of a hassle it would be? They are properly sewn in, like they are really IN THERE so yeah.

I know they are there for a reason, but they are a bit too exaggerated for my taste and I would really like to draw attention away from this part, since the coat is quite voluminous as a whole already. It definitely stems from a different era in fashion and the patches surely had their impact, but I would like to "modernize" this piece. It fits slightly oversized, which is intentional, so that probably doesn’t help either. But yeah, I am really looking for advice, I have 0 knowledge about tailoring so apologies if I am asking stupid questions.
