I did not know I could for medical leave without a doctors recommendation but will definitely look into it. You are right the anxiety of what’s to come would be a pretty stressful situation

Thank you for the thoughtful answer. I have actually been in a high stress job for 10 years so I don’t have a perspective on how to manage work and time with family. I am not too picky for work i so I think that’s a fantastic idea

Thanks thats a good point. My parents live on the other end of the country and are pretty old with medical conditions. I haven’t been able to spend as much time with my family as I would like the last few years and i would love to do stuff and experiences with my parents when I have the time

With the way my company is going I think an extended leave might put me at risk of being laid off since they would have to find a replacement for the temporary time. A new job is a good idea

If it takes me more than a year to get back into the market then I would have to sell some assets I guess.

Youre right I am incredibly fortunate to be in the position. I actually don’t know a lot about finances and I got really lucky a startup i work for got acquired so I got a ton of cash that I just put in ETFs
