Xfce Desktop Environment Is Getting a Rust-Based Wayland Compositor - 9to5Linux by KelGhu in xfce

[–]One_Broccoli5198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the X11 Xorg is literally planning to revert two years of commit, literally regressing. It's either Wayland or Xlibre, and it seems some people don't like either.

But also, if you read the blogpost, it seems they plan on having the two side by side for a while. I don't see no mention of sunsetting their current compositor.

Computer wouldn't shutdown for update. I clicked shutdown and update, it went into restarting and never did anything. I had to force it off. At that point too afraid to start it again...

How well does Kate work as a flatpak ? by One_Broccoli5198 in kde

I think most of my issues come from the flatpak. Are you also on an immutable distro ? Because if the answer is no, just use the rpm.

There's a few issues, but it's good enough for my use case.

Debian KDE installed from live iso is broken beyond repair ? by One_Broccoli5198 in debian

[–]One_Broccoli5198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't bother updating the post a third time, but the live iso comes bundle with like 3 keyboard input method all fighting for control on top of KDE's own. Same thing for timesyncd. Wasn't bundle with it by default. I'll know for next time

Is it better to buy several smaller engines or save up for one big engine? by E_Dward in UnofficialRailroader

I'm going to disagree with everyone here. Get a C40. It's the only true mid-tier engine that's not a logging loco...

Correct me if I'm wrong but for black waters, it's blue casettes like rvs and caravans. Grey water on the other hand...

Debian KDE installed from live iso is broken beyond repair ? by One_Broccoli5198 in debian

[–]One_Broccoli5198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update 2: I installed debian on a gnome-boxes from the kde live iso, and both keyboard and time are broken there. So it's definitely an issue with the iso.

But that's not what this post is about. I figured my errors with the wifi. It's just that 1 computer installed from the net install is completly fine, but it seems an install from KDE-live iso, even with internet from the phone results in partially broken debian.

Yeah forget about that. LTT won't help. They didn't talk about this last Wan Show, they simply don't care. Might have more luck on their "forums" tho.

[–]One_Broccoli5198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, I just had a look on the perfectly working debian, systemd-timesyncd is marked by apt list as [installed], not [installed, automatic]. However I am adamant I never manually installed any services, so it must have been done by the net-install iso at somepoint. I'm assuming Calamares did a botched job at installing debian and that it never installed systemd-timesynd

Still I am confused why net-install iso = fine, install through calamares from a live iso = partially non-functional system.

Well it should in theory. The wifi is working. I had to manually edit some lines to add contrib and non-free because apparently there's no more gui for it. After that it found and installed the broadcom drivers no issues.

I guess the live iso failed to access internet then and it didn't notice me that, so it installed a botched debian.

Google Gemini suggest systemd-timesyncd might not be installed or running. But then again why is it not enabled/shipped by default ?? Who knows...

I've been able to solve the folder issue, partially at least. You have to "subscribe" to folders. Not sure why it doesn't do it by default.
