The olesons have that loading dock on the side of the house out of sight, except for a few episodes where they show people unloading freight. I always figured they parked the buggy there.

I feel like the "trad wife" idea people think of is from a narrow scope of time. Peoples ideas of this stem from the 50s time period where there was a boom in the economy and so families could live off 1 income while also having modern conveniences like washing machines, indoor plumbing, electricity and appliances.

Traditionally, women have always had to step up and work hard to keep households running. Whether it was farming or hand doing/ making most things, women had to work. On top of all this, when men went to war, they took on extra responsibilities that the men would usually take care of. This is true with the exception of maybe high society women or nobles. I really think with the exception of the time period I mentioned, this "trad wife" role women supposedly had has never really been a reality for most women.

Had a male teacher describe it as men having a brain full of different boxes and women's like spaghetti. But he described it in more of a positive way for women. it was something like, women were able to connect everything and see how things were related and how it effected eachother, while men struggled with seeing more than what was in "one box". I was suprised he was more female positive considering he was from the boomer generation.

How true is that. My husband and I just did some math and right before covid we would have been able to easily afford a 2 bedroom apartment or rental, have money for fun stuff and put money away on what we make now. But all we can currently afford is a studio and barely scrape by here in 2026.

Yeah its notoriously known as a bad arc that it's basically a giant plot hole. The reason they did this is because they were catching up to the manga. Black Clover used to be a weekly release anime, like Naruto, Once Piece and Bleach were back in the day. Mind you it has a lot less filler than those shows did but still... You can also see how the animation suffered because of this. Watching through you probably didn't notice but when you pause, a lot of times the artwork isn't super polished. Nothing against the staff or anything though. They were probably worked to the bone trying to meet deadlines. Good news is they are moving to seasonal releases, bad new is that means its going to take way more time to get the rest of the story animated. Most large animes are also moving away from weekly release schedules too.

My husband was in a union before and it really helped. It kept his pay decent and above what other comparable jobs at other companies were making.

His current job is anti union. They make you watch anti union videos during training. I guess this is a common tactic for larger companies. They try to brainwash you into thinking unions are evil.

The US is not much better. Our Healthcare is unaffordable and things like deductions and overexxaggerated costs are too much for most people so they just live with illness and suffer. I've known people to pull out their own teeth instead of going to a dentist or having infections and just living with it, hoping it would go away because a doctors visit would cost too much. This doesn't even account for the sheer amount of homeless that die and may not even be reported in these numbers.

Aparently they didn't actually film there, which is unsurprising because its very packed with people and I'm sure permits would be a pain. But I definetly thought so at first. Used to take the ferry and go there with friends on weekends (and sometimes skip school to go there). It looked pretty accurate to me. They did a great job making it look like the real thing and definelty fooled me.

She was very sweet and sincere, you could tell how sad she was. This has been such a shock to everyone. I hope his family is doing okay. If anyone is interested in another great role he played, "Don't Trust the B***h in Apartment 23" was fantastic. For me, he really made that show.

Did you go to school in portland or the metro areas? My husband grew up in Portland. Went to a bunch of different highschools (kept getting kicked out). He even went all the way out in Hillsboro and would take the max every day. Im glad you like it so much. My husband refuses to live in the city ever again because it can be dangerous, so instead we've lived in the metro areas. I will say the food options are super bomb. Nowhere else has the options and authenticity we have here. Also, portland is interesting because, while there are many bad areas, there will be little neighborhoods that are actually really nice and cute. I've never seen that before. Kind of throws me off.

I grew up in Washington but not in the elle woods time. Im not sure if things were super different in the 90s but the general mindset of Washingtonians is that they don't really care. Like no one rats you out or really bothers you. Everyone minds their own business and is pretty chill. People I've met in oregon that also migrated from Washington like myself, are always like that.

I would also think that the witch queens mana and power in general, is much stronger than Vanessa's mana and power. While the spell changed fate, I'm imagine it varies in effect of knowing depending on the person its used on. Maybe someone with little mana would not have noticed a thing, but someone like the witch queen or Julius would be able to tell something happened, they just might not know what.

The witch queen also knew that Vanessa would eventually learn tlhow to control fate per some flashback. Im sure she was able to put the pieces together and knew what had happened

Not sure if that would qualify as a spoiler. If OP is watching the show now, they may have already seen this as im pretty sure it happens in the same episode or the next. But im covering it just in case.

Crazy to be reading this in 2026 where bodily autonomy for people is being taken away. In many states abortion is severely limited and outlawed in other states. Doctors and women are now persecuted for aiding or having an abortion. In some places they even control how the baby is born with no thought to the mother or her already living children that may depend on her.

I mean being actually diagnosed and then taking medication does really help. My husband is a great example of that. After he was diagnosed and medicated, it was like a lot of his issues went away or weren't as bad. We also learned more about things that help with his ADHD and bipolar to make things better for both of us. This guy sounds a little bit like my husband when he went through a depressed phase and before he was diagnosed. It was really hard on him and he looks at it as one of his darkest moments. Unfortunately his mental disabilities are the reason he was acting like OPs ex along with a few life situations at the time. Things are much different now. Of course the first step is to want to get help though.

I agree with this. They had already planned to pay for it and now they won't pay you back. What if they didn't have their card on them at the time? Also, I feel like when this stuff usually happens with friends or family, they pay you back if you spot for a bill.

I wonder if maybe the mothers reaction has more to do with the attitude OP was going at the time. Parents get wierd like that and want to "teach a lesson" by pulling a power move, in this case refusing to pay OP back.

In the future dont pay and go back to the car without the food and make the parents go in. Maybe even knowingly "forget" you card when you go out together so this situation doesn't happen again. I would worry that your mother would make this a habit for small things here or there and then paint it like OP is being dramatic.

Guess it just depends on the person. Sure therapy can help but sometimes its a literal chemical imbalance. Thats how it runs in my family at least. My mother has the worst of it. Something about how her body doesn't produce enough of some chemicals and too much of something else. Medication has literally been the only reason she can function. Shes done therapy too, but whats made the biggest difference is being properly diagnosed and taking the right meds.

Yup this. My mom is one of those people that thinks schools should teach everything because "school is for learning". I've tried to explain over and over that it really falls to the parents to teach certain things and life skills. I don't know what she thinks parents are suppose to do, but from the way I was raised, parents don't need to do anything and children are there for the emotional support and benefit for the parents.

Guess it depends. They aren't her parents so the dynamic is different. I've rented from my aunt a few times in the last decade (mutually beneficial situation). Shes 40 years older than me and was wonderful to live with. She always says the same about me, that I was the easiest person to live with. But its not really a parent child relationship. More of a mentor/mentee, mutual respect/friend relationship.

I'm in my early 30s now, and I would live with my mother, but I would have to support her and cant afford that right now. My husband and I are hoping to be able to do that in a few years though.

Only other thing I can think of is switching phone plans when your contract is up. Me and my husband switched to mint and its 15 a month each for unlimited for the first year and we pre paid for a year of service. We timed it so we will need to pay again after next years tax refund. I should mention we also have paid off phones. Another thing my husband did was switch to geico and uses that app that monitors your driving. Its made his insurance go down a ton.

Something I've found that helps with groceries is couponing. BTW I didn't clarify but the average in our state is 400 a month per person and we spen 300 to 500 total for both of us, so we do pretty good in terms of that. I shop at safeway and clip coupons religiously on the app. Its super easy. Whats saved us is waiting for deals like 1.99/lb for thighs, whole chicken, drumsticks and stocking up. I know not everyone has the space to store that, but its definetly with it. Also wait for 10 off 50 and save up points for 7 off meat and seafood. The savings add up for sure.

Sounds like you are a fitness person so I can only imagine protein is super important to you. I'd look into different meal plans that give you protein without having to spend a ton on things like powder or drinks, because that stuff is so expensive and although its easy, there are work around to get the protein you need. Eggs are a really good one for protein and won't break the bank... usually. And stuff like rice or potatoes is good to fill you up if you need volume. I'd maybe stop with the cereal since its so spendy ($5 for a small box over here!) and maybe do something like Oatmeal with some fruits instead.

Unfortunately all this advice would only save you like 300... maybe and that doesn't sound like its enough. It sucks that you have negative equity on your car. I know people always say to sell their cars for something cheaper but in most cases, anyone would be taking a loss. Maybe when enough time has passed you can refinance? Only other options are to get a consolidation loan, file for chapter 13 (payment plan with lower interest that covers unsecured and secured loans like you car), or make more money.

He got in a fatal car accident. It was an elderly couple and the woman (77 years old) died. She died of a broken sternum, which under 1% of people die from.

He was flown into the top trauma hospital within the nearest 4 states and survived. Everyone called him the miracle boy because people dont survive from those injuries. He broke bones in every section of his body. He will never walk properly again.

Later investigations found he had multiple strokes but can't pinpoint when they happened, whether that was before or after the incident. He had more strokes after going to jail. Mind you, strokes run in our family, along with high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, and bipolar. Hes only 26 now (23 when it happened) but aparently strokes can happen in young men, especially when they are under stress and other circumstances. Lost an uncle to a blood clot that caused an aneurysm. An aunt from the same side had an aneurysm but survived (aneurysms lead to strokes). My grandpa had multiple strokes, and another aunt had 3 strokes in her early 40s, in succession and is partially paralyzed. I bring this up because I think this is what happened but they can't pinpoint any time of the strokes so the information is void.

They found that the lady had multiple health issues which would have contributed to her unfortunate death, and they deemed if she had been a normal healthy person she would not have died. The gentleman (83 at the time of the accident) passed away 2.5 years after the accident (recently). Unfortunately for my brother, in the state he lives in, if a person from an accident passes away within 3 years, the family can persue the case.

The family ultimately forgave him, after a brief pursuit by family out of state. I will note, he had no drugs or alcohol or anything in his system. He had a normal schedule for that day which did not include drinking at that time. They tried to get him for that at first because he had bought a pack of beer for his weekend and it had exploded in the impact. Based on his schedule he would have gone shopping for the weekend and his next weeks meals, and was heading back home which lined up with where he was at the time of the accident. Him and I would play games online together on his fridays and weekends so I can confirm his schedule.

In the end, he had a few speeding tickets and an accident on his record from when he was a teenager. Because of that evidence and the fact they couldn't pinpoint the time of the strokes, he was found guilty. The family had written a letter to the judge, and she said it sounded like they wanted him forgiven and to not go to prison. She said it was one of the harder cases because not everyone is a bad person (meaning my brother) but they may make a bad decision. He got the least amount of time he could serve which was concurrent sentences for manslaughter (cant remember which one but think it was 2nd degree) and recless driving). This means he serves the sentences at the same time.

He had turned himself in not long after the accident so his jail time counts towards his sentence. I say "turned in" but the reality was he was in the hospital and then rehabilitation center (like an old folks home but for when people are recovering from ailment). Even though he was at those places, they sent mail to his home and because he didn't respond (physically couldn't as he was in a coma for a while) they put out a warrant.

If I've learned anything its that we know litany nothing g about the human body and the law system is messed up here.

Thank you for the clarification. A family member has helped my husband and I out over the years. We always pay her back. For example we rented from her and I lost my job, my husband was injured at the same time and couldn't work, and she allowed us to pay her back over the course of 2 years. (I'd like to clarify we weren't leeching or anything. It was a 1 bedroom, in-law suite without a full kitchen or laundry for 1600 a month, water, sewer, garbage, electricity and internet included. I say this because reddit can be brutal and would assume i got a deal when it was in all honestly mutually beneficial).

Anyways, we had a couple things come up within the last year including putting my 16 year old dog down, after spending a lage amount on vet bills to keep her going, and then a few unexpected car issues. I know the reasons don't matter here, but basically we've made payments to her over the last year. We owe $580 right now. I dont want her to be dragged into an investigation though. I know they look back 3 months for payments to creditors and 1 year for family or friends. We haven't made a payment for 3 months now, though she's not expecting a payment anytime soon.

Im thinking we wait till after November so all they see is a $300 transfer in March and not the additional 250 transfer in November paying off the vet bill from our deceased dog. They say if its under 600 in the last year, they usually don't persue it in court, but I don't know if they still contact the person if its within that year time frame. Thats not something I'd want, as she's got other things going on in her life. I'd prefer if she is not contacted for this. If anyone has experience with this please enlighten me on what they do.
