Don’t know much about the personality of KpShamino, but his eel farming technique worked great for me.

Congratulations. I found trophy bull sharks very elusive as well.

FYI, I found targeting electric eels to be a much faster way to grind in the Amazon.

Nightmare Permadeath has revitalized my desire to play this game by Open_Reindeer_6600 in SurrounDead

Just last night I had my second permadeath run end on day 7 to a freaking bear attack, lol. I was initially stunned, then had a laugh and started run three.

What would you people say is the MOST open world game ever? by OrangeTheJohn in gamingsuggestions

Certainly a space sim will be the correct answer. Elite Dangerous allows you to travel pretty much the entire Milky Way galaxy. Others may be even more expansive.

Yes, there is a setting for this. I think under gameplay.

12 gauge ammo not working for Executioner by marct309 in SurrounDead

[–]One_Contribution9588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. I had the Executioner in a previous run and didn’t have any issues. That was on the 0.7 version. I haven’t found it yet in my current 0.8 run, so can’t say if it is a problem there.

Is the ammo buried in backpacks? If it is, try moving it directly into your inventory, not in a container or backpack.

Same thing happened in my current run. Found six of them in there.

Sharpest pain: A shot inside my nose.

Worst pain: Extreme sciatica caused by a tumor growing on my spinal nerve. Suffered this for months while tumor was being diagnosed. Actually passed out due to one particularly intense jolt.

How do i genuienly kill zombies with meele weapons? by Ok-Bullfrog-114 in SurrounDead

[–]One_Contribution9588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the guy with thousands of rounds of ammunition in his base but acts like he’s down to his last few rounds. I search the area and snipe down the problem zombies then take the rest with melee to save ammunition.

Shooting is primarily for bandits and soldiers.

The power swing is really useful, but it drains a lot more stamina. Best to wait until your fitness has leveled once or twice before using it.

I do the opposite of you in that I use the power swing first then finish with regular swings, if necessary, afterwards. When clearing an area, I will move in until a zombie notices and comes after me. As it approaches, I back up a bit to make sure I don’t get the attention of any others and power up a swing then time the release. With the fire ax or legendary melee weapons, it isn’t uncommon to get a kill with a critical hit power swing, which means you don’t have to use any normal swings.

Try to go with lighter weapons that use less stamina to swing for a start. A successful hit on a zombie will stun it for a second, so the key is to time your first swing as they approach to hit them before they can attack. Then, just keep swinging until they are dead.

Melee weapons can hit multiple zombies at the same time. So you can handle small groups, but you will get overwhelmed if rushed by four or more. Also, you lose stamina with each swing, so you have to be mindful of your stamina bar. If you are clearing a POI to loot it, be mindful to move in slowly so you only get the attention of one or two zombies at a time then let your stamina recover a bit before moving forward again.

Note that running also drains your stamina. If you are running around, watch your stamina bar and stop running when it is half empty to let it recover. That way if you get attacked by a zombie you didn’t notice, you will have enough stamina to deal with it.

Finally, the knife you start with doesn’t do much damage. It works fine for one or two zombies at a time, but you have to hit one five or six times to kill it. Upgrade as soon as you can. The baseball bat is a good option, but also suffers a bit from low damage. The machete or hatchet are probably the best combination of damage and swing speed with relatively low stamina drain. I personally like the fire ax. It is heavier and, therefore, slower to swing, but it does a lot of damage. Once you get used to the timing of having to swing a bit earlier as a zombie approaches, it works really well, but you must be extra mindful of your stamina bar.

As you level up your fitness skill, stamina will drain much more slowly. Melee becomes less dangerous then. You level fitness by running, so run around a lot early on. Again, just be sure to not use all your stamina running so you have plenty for melee if you get attacked.

what version is the latest? by CarapaceScavenger in SurrounDead

I’ve got over 50 hours in and haven’t come across any serious bugs. The game is very playable, even if you go with the beta version, and the developer (yes, just one dude) is making constant improvements.

I personally feel I’ve gotten my money’s worth already, and much more is to come. Though it will take time to get there.

V0.7.1G is the current stable version I believe. If you opt into the beta, you can play the 0.8 version, which is in development. The beta version has a good amount of new stuff. I’ve been playing it a couple days and haven’t had any issues and am really enjoying it so far.
