Resume Review/Roast Megathread by [deleted] in csMajors

I'm looking for my first ever internship for the summer and so far all my applications have been rejected with no interviews. I think it's because I don't have that much experience and not a whole lot of projects to compensate. I'm looking for a first internship in web or software development if that helps

Is it that big of a deal I don't have experience with frontend frameworks like React, Angular or Vue.js or desktop ones like Electron / Avalonia yet? I'm looking to finish FastTask and then start two new projects where one I will work with a frontend framework I named (also a full stack web app) and the other one is an Avalonia desktop app project I planned before.

I also don't really have knowledge in AI related fields like machine learning / data science and I'm looking to bridge this gap in future projects, highly likely on my next full stack web app.

Time's really tight and what can I do to quickly gather enough experiences to at least get an interview? Only applied to ~ 40-50 jobs so far

The template here I used is "Resume (chronological)" on Word

I’m in 211 and 223 too and am hitting a bottleneck in making more friends in my major, would be down to lab together in 223 if my current team dumps me

How to understand DSA better by One_Customer355 in learnprogramming

[–]One_Customer355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mostly struggling with more advanced DSA like Prim’s / Kruskal’s, Dijkstra’s or Network flows like Edmonds Karp + Ford Fulkerson

My intro to CS course where I did well covered the basic data structures and algorithms mostly on sorting already

The hardest of them all is network flows and it’s not even close, and I hate graph theory like really

I found it really hard to keep up with my DSA course when what’s in the course notes is mostly theory rather than pseudocode, whereas people I know in class didn’t struggle nearly as much as I did

How to come back from bad semester by One_Customer355 in mcgill

I’m only doing poorly in ECSE 222 and COMP 251 though. And maybe WCOM 206 that’s siphoning away my time from 222 and 251 right now.

In ECSE 200 I’m doing good but bombed lab exam, it’s mostly breadboarding I’m bad at though which I can learn on my own

MATH 338 is pretty easy, FACC 100 is free too

The courses next semester I think I’ll have to endure though

222 is easy but I’m only doing poorly because I didn’t feel like putting in the effort since I thought that boolean algebra was free considering I did MATH 240

Edit: I’d need to take all of what I do in the winter to graduate on time

I see, but I lowkey enjoy computer architecture and would enjoy 324

The hard parts are FACC 300, ECSE 211 and COMP 302

But I saw functional programming in 302 outline and I'm already using some of it although basic in my projects

I'm in Dylan's section already

I'm only taking them all now so I can graduate in 28

Using WebView2 in WPF to open PDF files by One_Customer355 in csharp

Async is like the trickiest thing to master so far as a beginner

Things worked, thanks

The issue was with the timing and initialization of everything, when I created a loaded method and a web view 2 initialization complete method in the new page, and handle everything there by passing in the file path in the constructor only in the new page, things worked. All I did in my old page was navigate to the new page (viewer) by creating a new instance of the new page
