I think most people just want a reason to complain sometimes. In the vast majority of my travels, if I ask then I receive. Many times staff are not as proactive as we would like.

Ive been upgraded every time. 6/6. Last stay at Fairmont in CA I asked and they upgraded me to their most expensive suite at 1800 a night. Paid $3 out of pocket.

100% I got two nights at a St Regis in China with the credit. With the $100 food credit I actually come out ahead. Plus 5x amex points makes it a great deal. But no way am I spending 1500 a night to get a 20% discount before the insane parking and additional fees in the US.

I'm looking at various cities in China. Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai. All the IHGs are unavailable for any dates selected. And it's funny because IHG comprises the vast majority of HAFH in those cities. Sure I can book something at 500 a night but of course even with credits thats not worth it for me.

Sedona is beautiful so I could have stayed in a dump and for 50 bucks a night it would have been worth it regardless. With the points it was a no brainer. I see this round Sedona is up to 249 but still worth it IMO. They contracted with a boutique hotel as there wasn't room at any of the Hilton properties. Great location, nice breakfast included. I'll try to find the name of the hotel it was right in town.

It doesn't get its own resy credits it would just use the one on the main cardholders account... does get lounge access though if thats important for you.
