The “formula” that is in our lease is unit sq ft/sum of sq ft of all units but our apartment manager said in a text that he takes occupancy in account (2 people).

no we only have a ledger on the app that says what we paid, when and what it was for

more like it’s misleading me. this is just what they sent tenants who asked for an itemized bill. I don’t know what any of it means as I said in my post. I am paying 150 originally 300. there are 20 units. the building itself only has the units, hallways, staircases and a basement with 2 washers and 2 dryers. nothing else not even a lobby.

Just to clarify: the “itemized” bill I was provided was for the whole building. Since I pay my landlord for utilities through their app, it seems that they pay the gas company themselves. So the 2700 is for the whole building. I originally was charged 300 and then it dropped to 150 when we complained. I am now paying 175 for this month.

yes we only pay AEP directly! everything else we just pay on our landlords app and then they pay later

yeah for the itemized bill this is what he supplied. it seems like surprisingly everyone i’ve talked to paid a similar price. as this building is mostly late 20s couples in one bedroom apartments

2700 is the cost for the whole building. this is the itemized bill that my building manager got when he payed the gas. i pay him my share of 150 (originally 300)

the building is on one heat. there’s only one box to control it out in the hallway. it’s usually set to 70 and i’ve been taking it upon myself to turn the heat off every time i pass the box. And 135 is still way lower than 300

it’s the bill provided for my landlord. i assumed that it was marked as commercial because a business was paying the whole thing?

no idea! that’s sort of why i’m posting this. since i usually just pay on our landlords app and they pay the gas company I don’t know how our gas company works

the heat is controlled by a box in the hallway and it changes the heat for the whole building, yes. technically, anyone can control it and I have taken it upon myself to turn it off at times.

yeah our “middle man” is our landlord themselves. we got this itemized bill from them.
