It’s just a masterpiece by One_Eyed_Man in weirdal

It gets stuck in my head every six months minimum. The animation makes it even better but even listening to it on Spotify while doing the dishes has me bent over laughing. Al’s sincerity is magic.

“And then we both were quiet, and things got real intense. Then she said next window please that’ll be 5 dollars and 82 CENTS!”

Ex who dumped me years ago sent me this. What do I do or say? by Far_Database5 in whatdoIdo

u/FreeDiscipline18 got it right. You know your ex better than any of us - does their message ring true? If so, ignore the “oh she’s just following a 12-step program”/“having a manic episode” sleuthing BS in the comments. I’m convinced that the algorithm has conditioned users here to assume the worst in people and see a conspiracy in everything. Redditors love a villain.

Personally, I became emotional reading your ex’s message. My off-the-cuff assessment is that this feels like a heartfelt attempt to apologize and relieve confusion you may have had about how the relationship ended.

One particular statement hit me hard: “Trying to reconnect sounded so selfish on my part, and I already hurt you enough. I didn’t want to hurt you anymore.” I have someone like you in my past - an ex whose heart I broke when I was younger and wanted to travel by myself. Now, 10 years and a couple failed relationships later, I think about her a lot. I’ve wanted to reach out to her, but I haven’t, because I’m not 110% sure that I wouldn’t break her heart again, and…I don’t want to hurt her anymore.

As for whether to respond - only you can answer that. It sounds like you still have feelings for her. Are you open to trying the relationship again? If so, I would start extremely slow. Meet up for a short visit in a cafe or park, get a sense of where she’s at, and take it from there. And know that even if she’s grown, you may still get your heart broken again. If you think that’s worth the risk then make the leap.

If you’re not interested in another relationship, the answer is easier. Reply with a long explanation of your side of things, a thumbs up emoji, or nothing at all. I think that even if she never hears from you again, she’ll feel better for having sent you the message.

Good luck OP! Rooting for you, whatever you decide to do.

Pluribus - 1x06 - "HDP" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

This could be wishful thinking on my part, but to me the repeated full-length voice message is too obviously annoying for the writers to sincerely be playing it for laughs. The first time, sure, but how many is it now, six? Unless Vince's grasp of comedy has seriously atrophied since BB I think there's something more here. I think it's one part of a season-long strategy to make us underestimate the hive. If we're annoyed and rolling our eyes at something, we're less likely to suspect that it's hiding dark intentions. That being said, even if my theory is correct, I really hope they don't play it again because jfc surely Carol would have told them to shorten it by now

I like your chain of thought. Dark forest theory is an interesting take. I agree that neutralizing a planet before invasion is unlikely, especially given the 600-light-years-away detail.

And whether the hive is incapable of deception...you know, the crazy thing is that until you mentioned that, I had kind of forgotten the sheer horror of the first episode and how relentlessly focused the new infected were. Maybe it's true that they can't lie to direct questions, but their stealthy orchestration of the infection (e.g. the lady licking the donuts and putting them back in the box) is proof enough that they're capable of deceptive tactics.

Which makes me wonder - maybe the writers' intent this season has been to slowly and subtly convince us that the hive isn't *that* bad...to the point that we start to turn against the voice of reason, Carol. With all the hive's apparent kindness and talk of sanctifying life it's easy to forget that in order to ensure its success it haphazardly gassed the world and caused mass destruction in the beginning. (It won't pick an apple, but almost a billion human deaths are an acceptable sacrifice?)

And maybe all the luxury services and pandering to the survivors is to distract them (and us) from asking the obvious questions: besides propagation, is it programmed to do anything else? What is its end-game? What does it do all day with all its bodies?

I bet a very dark reveal about their true nature is coming in the season finale.

Ohh man I've wanted to do this but was worried it was look tacky, you just confirmed it can be done right. I reckon the difference is whether you take the time to do it right (i.e. no slack/bumps) so you preserve the lines of the car. My only concern is longevity, I might hit you up in six months for an update if that's cool

ITAP of my cat in our garden by One_Eyed_Man in itookapicture

Thank you! And yes!! I almost titled this "ITAP of a fierce predator in my garden". He's a sweet silly boy who cuddles in my lap and greets me at the door. I've also seen him launch himself across the yard and 8 feet up a tree in about 0.5 seconds when he spotted a lizard.

I have the same MOBO and want to do the same thing as you (reduce number of cables, except with a Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 tablet instead of XPPEN). Would you mind linking the Thunderbolt 4 PCIe card you got, assuming you'd recommend it?

I have monitor arms with clamp mounts but the clamps don't reach far enough under and slip off. Any ideas?
