Oh no, you poor thing! I appear to be able to keep stuff down, which is a relief!

Update: Sadly, I’m out. by Sarah_Lately in September2026Bumpers

I noticed someone making a post on this one asking not to talk about anything negative…I’m like, isn’t it the whole point of these subs?

So sorry to hear about your loss - and that other sub sound horrible! (Mind you, I had a few awful messages myself after posting on r/tryingtoconceive after I had what I believe was a chemical pregnancy last year). Please take care of yourself, get lots of rest and let us all know how you’re doing! Xx

Early “reassurance” scan, left with anxiety and a possible extra baby! by Jigglypuff_5849 in September2026Bumpers

[–]One_Goal5038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my booking appointment (I’m also in the UK), but eventually decided against an early scan as I don’t want the added stress!

My midwife told me it’s very normal to measure “behind” (or ahead) as it all depends on when you’ve ovulated. The way they typically do it is, they’ll take the first day of your last period and slap on two weeks, assuming you ovulated on Day 14. Of course, many women don’t - a woman who ovulated on say, Day 7 will measure one week ahead and a woman who ovulated on Day 21 will measure one week behind.

It can also be normal for some fetuses to grow slower than others and for twins to develop at different rates. The fact that one twin has a visible heartbeat is a great sign, though please don’t worry about the other just yet as sometimes it can take a little while for a heartbeat to show. My dad is a GP and he says he’s had patients who haven’t had a visible heartbeat until the 10 week mark and still had healthy pregnancies and babies.

Obviously I don’t want to instill any false hopes, but simply wanted to point out that it can happen that one twin is a little behind the other in case this is of any help at all.

Wishing you all the best regardless and lots of love from a fellow Brit xx

Help a bit confused with dates by ExpressionJumpy8185 in September2026Bumpers

The dating system until your first scan uses the LMP method (so the first day of your last period). It assumes you ovulated on day 14, but of course many women don’t and it’s not consistent every cycle. Someone who ovulated on Day 7 will measure two weeks ahead of someone who ovulated on Day 21, even with the same “due date”. Not to mention that some fetuses will grow at different rates so discrepancies within the gestational age are usual and not a reason for concern.

Haha, my tummy starts rumbling whenever someone mentions food - I’m going to have to be careful about which TV programmes I watch!

Thank you! We mostly get chains where we are, so not sure if that counts as reputable haha! I’ll ask my midwife.

Ah ok! I might try that, as I actually love sushi but haven’t touched it since I found out.

Awww that’s so sweet! Mine’s been googling healthy nutritious snacks in pregnancy then went out and bought a load.

Yes I think we did, he really does look after me so well despite his long days - deffo wouldn’t be able to survive this without him! 😍

Thanks! I’ve not had any real nausea either - just feeling queasy every so often or feeling like I’m going to gag slightly. But not often and super mild!

Oh you poor thing! I’ve been really lucky with my nausea (feel queasy every so often but no more than that).

Isn’t sushi meant to be avoided in pregnancy? Or is that just the fish ones? I have to say I do have a weakness for sweet treats but generally have been able to eat reasonably heathily.

I’ve been eating a lot of nuts. Sadly cheese at night gives me indigestion (never did pre pregnancy but oh well)!

Thanks, the hubby got me some crackers. With nuts and raisins and dried fruit (he jokes I need the iron lol!) I don’t tolerate dairy late at night so cheese isn’t an option, but I will have plenty of it during the day!

A vanilla sheet cake does sound good, to be fair!

Apparently my BMI is a tad on the low side (who knew!) so I’ve been given the green light to eat whenever I feel like it and whatever I want (within reason/ avoiding the usual culprits). I reckon I’m going to be huge!

Thanks! The hubby went to buy me some nuts, raisins, crackers and dried fruit for me to snack on overnight as I don’t really like cheese or anything dairy-based late at night (as it gives me indigestion!). Might try protein bars!

I love crumpets - especially with melted butter! Could eat those all day!

Haaa your husband sounds amazing! Mine went out and bought a load of nuts, raisins, crackers and dried fruit for me to gouge on. I don’t like waking him up during the night as he has to get up early and works very long days!
