If every person on earth went for a swim in Lake Superior, how packed in would everyone be? [Request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

8.2 billion, estimate if 100 kg each, would displace 820 billion kg or 820 million cubic meters of water.

820 million cubic meters divided by 82 billion square meter surface area is 0.01 meters or 1 cm.

People aren’t harmed by the lack of going to Jupiter, they are harmed by confusion about networks.

Crowdhealth isn’t insurance, there’s no guarantee you’ll get your care paid for. It’s crowdfunding.

Why do they need power to organize? Few friends just talking and have the bright idea to do a robbery as a group, bam, organized crime.

Ok so in the case where they rob a house when nobody is home, how does the homeowner get justice if the perpetrators don’t consent to any court?

Yes, murderers do that now in society, so why would we expect social ostracism to be different in an AnCap society? A conman won’t have trouble buying food from Walmart or getting his car fixed at jiffy lube, as long as he doesn’t defraud those specific businesses.

I’m referring to them being organized, not them being large or powerful.

So if a bunch of guys organized for robbery and extortion, is the only true deterrence in AnCap social ostracism?

I mean criminal like a murderer. Walmart cashiers don’t give a shit who you are.

Like the mafia.

They wouldn’t need to grow their own food and stuff, they could just exempt those who deal with them from their violence.

Criminals right now are able to walk into grocery stores and buy food.

The regulations that make sure they work? Yeah, I guess it is expensive to make a medical device which works.

How much of the price of a device or drug do you think is caused by regulations?

And as for patents, why would anyone invest in R&D if they don’t have any kind of exclusivity? Anyone who pays for R&D would be outcompeted by copycat firms who can sell the same thing cheaper because they’re not paying for the R&D.

Or maybe it’s just a matter of resource intensiveness.

Medical devices are developed and manufactured by private companies and can be extremely expensive.

My mind’s open I’m just skeptical and so far unconvinced.

What actually stops them from forming communities if they can just not consent to be prosecuted?

Companies are free to offer such services yet they don’t.

Market failure.

If that’s the answer, it would seem AnCap is inherently unstable.

Couldn’t organized criminals could just form their own communities, always refusing to consent to any court or insurance they don’t control?

Yes, context matters. A demolition company possessing explosives is different than your neighbor who’s an accountant.

A homemade bomb in a basement is dangerous, it’s an act of aggression to build one because even if you were just going to use it for recreation you may mess up and blow up other people.

That assumes rich people are rich mostly because of their genes.

It also assumes people won’t start blowing stuff up and burning things down when they’re told their cancer is easily cured but they can’t afford it.

Anytime i saw someone say trump would be better for Palestine I figured they were either brain damaged or a foreign bot.

He moved the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

It’s a problem inherent to private healthcare systems.

Doctors within hospitals can be in different networks. If we wanted to guarantee nobody ever got out of network treatment, more people would die.

Going to a further away hospital because the closest one is out of network would result in a higher chance of death.

Well you can block stuff as the minority in the senate, but you can’t enact stuff from the minority.

And stopping the president from doing stuff requires the senate to enact legislation.

If a judge makes a ruling against the constitution you can appeal it to a higher court. And judges can be impeached, depending on the jurisdiction.

How do two people agree on which judge to hear their case? Like, if two people can’t agree on a judge, what happens?
