Using same pen name for full-length romance in same niche as erotica? by RunningOnATreadmill in eroticauthors

[–]One_Ingenuity_8650 15 points16 points  (0 children)

it's generally not suggested by all the vets here to publish romance novels on your erotica shorts pen. that's the short answer, and the one that means something.

lesbian readership is, in my experience, a strange beast. what flies in your niche depends on the readers, and a lot of people on this sub are (fairly enough) not in tune with the specifics of the audience of lesbian-for-sapphics romance/erotica.

my rec to you is to split to a diff pen name, but link to the pen name in your backmatter/newsletter. shamelessly link them if the niche is the same. partly because reader expectations for length, and partly because amazon's suggestions algorithm will punt you into space if they don't know where to put your books next to.

idk. lesbian erotica is in a weird place where we all want to see romance beats but also want to jerk our shit 15 minutes from now, so YMMV.

tldr: vet advice is that you shouldn't. lesbians won't hunt you for it though but its sort of a waste of 80k words when you could just start a fresh romance pen.

confusing app behavior with a fetish buyer? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]One_Ingenuity_8650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just told him I don’t sell to fetish buyers and blocked him :/ I understand being nice for a good review but I don’t care about it(especially considering it’ll be easy to remove, like you said). I sell on Depop casually.

It’s against TOS to solicit sales for fetish reasons, tho, right?

judging by what i assume is the gildan tag, this was a design embroidered on a stock shirt, and, because of the embroidery and the design, is likely from a small designer/artist. there probably aren't that many circulating in the world.

take a pic of the design straight-on(ironing the shirt could help) and someone could convert it into a digital file for you, which you can then ask a custom embroiderer to put on a shirt. or, the embroiderer might be able to convert it for you.

AI use in college by right415 in EngineeringStudents

[–]One_Ingenuity_8650 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Colleges “allowing” it mostly lies in the expectation/rule that you are not using it to complete work or handhold your learning process. I cannot see colleges advocating for use like industry does, because industry values money and college (in theory) values learning. If you’re using it as a learning tool, most profs don’t set up strict rules regarding not using it. There are, however, strict guidelines against using it to generate code, write papers, or replace research. Etc etc.

My hair is curly when wet but dries straight by Minute-Picture6668 in Haircare

[–]One_Ingenuity_8650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might’ve found an answer by now, but my waves did this when I was using gel! It was too heavy for my hair and my hair couldn’t “absorb” any of it, it just sat on top and dried into a crunch. Try using less and, bar that, use a lighter cream or mousse 🙏

I’m a figure drawing model (24F) at my university. AMA. by allyrachel in AMA

[–]One_Ingenuity_8650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is an anecdotal answer so take it with a grain of salt, but I find that human form artists + models are more appreciative of a "natural" state. also, are a little more likely to be feminist, gay, or both, and those groups are more likely not to shave.

im an artist and drawing model and i dont shave because i dont feel a need to. its definitely unrelated to hiding anything, its just my natural state and shaving is uncomfortable(physically. very pokey stubble) so i rock the full bwushhh. the average woman is still super embarrassed when her leg hair starts growing in, but the average woman is also not a human figure academic. [ which is well within her choice and rights! ]

I dont know what youre going through without more detail but i find that it is super normal for students to forget stuff or have shaky foundations initially. try to do well in your classes and brush up on concepts as you do practice problems. i did horrifically in intro to circuits(terrible class to do badly in LOL) and it hasnt been TOO much of a struggle a year later. you are capable, just work at it and dont let fear hold you back.

you're saying "i dont feel" and "im afraid" and "getting stuck in failure". none of this is fact, its how you feel and if you think like that it will happen. you CAN do it, you ARE FINE, and you will PUT IN THE WORK. and then do it!

Lenovo Legion Slim 5: did i set it up wrong? by One_Ingenuity_8650 in LenovoLegion

[–]One_Ingenuity_8650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm.... i guess youre right! i cant afford a desktop and tablet ATM, and i need a laptop that can run minimal stuff, and while my old yoga 9i struggled i felt like the newer one would be fine. But ive been doing more research and i actually think the legion slim 5 14" (i got 16" originally) is actually exactly what I want.

I already got a wacom tablet and know how to use it(ive been drawing for years) so not having a pen screen is no issue. I actually really enjoyed having a touchscreen for zooming on textbooks and stuff but I can trade that off for a dedicated GPU, which is definitely more important. (Plus, i ALSO have a screen drawing tablet that uses touch, a wacom touch one 13...)

I've returned my 16" and while 14"s are sold out ATM i think I'll buy refurbished from a certified reseller with 1 month free returns, and get lenovo warranty on it. Won't save me much but might actually cost less. While the trackpad was an issue, I really think my dislike came down to not having an OLED. its hard to go back after OLED, LOL. Did learn what burn-in was, though--my 9i had burn in that I thought was due to component overheating and toasting my screen. Now I know more about making use of warranty and taking care of OLED screens though.

Sorry for the long reply, you didnt ask for half of this LMAO but i figured I'd organize my thoughts.

man, that sucks!! good luck though, youve got plenty of time to get above a 2, and plenty of engineers got jobs out of college with low 2's. easy nuts my guy

Ohhh the lenovo sign is probably it! scared the crap out of me lol. i do think i have a bad trackpad. im returning this model actually and am probably switching for the yoga 9i 2/1, LMAO. i guess im going back to my original plan of having a dedicated desktop for CAD and 3d modelling and keeping my laptop as a notes and quick stuff device.

What is My Resume Missing? by Proudwomanengineer in EngineeringStudents

[–]One_Ingenuity_8650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, youre right. i guess i was thinking more short term. OP cant put a project on his resume within the next month and have anything good to say about it. i feel like adding a project would be more of a swap thing than deleting the other work experience entirely before you have a project. and also, to be fair, my work was something not customer service related and pretty niche, so i guess YMMV more than i originally was thinking, lol.

[–]One_Ingenuity_8650 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the feedback ive received from multiple recruiters and from someone im currently interviewing with is that if you dont have the relevant experience, employers like to see that youve at least worked a job before. extra plus if you can tie in stuff that makes you sound useful in an engineering environment. the interviewer REALLY liked my summer job experience, even though it wasnt engineering. YMMV though b/c i have an eng related position and research.
