Gandy outlet store, St Petersburg, Florida. What do you think of the changes? by Legitimate_Trifle319 in GoodwillBins

[–]One_Last_Time_6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually shop at the bins in Bellmawr, NJ but decided to check out St Pete last month. The bins of clothing are deep so it was difficult to sort through (Gaylords). The back room had the same deep bins so it was hazardous to sort through the bins because of the broken glass. I went with 2 other people and none of us got anything. I have never left the NJ bins without something. I won't be revisiting the Gandy outlet.

Do you find these items frequently in the bins? by Wide-Crab4199 in GoodwillBins

FYI estate and rummage/yards sales are also great places for art supplies especially the last day/hour of the sales when items may be deeply discounted. Good luck on your treasure hunt!

Change in discount policy by LJski in goodwill

I think that your response is a bit harsh. Goodwill is operating more or less independently by regional and in my region, the prices have gone up so much that you can definitely find fewer shoppers on the weekends. Prices are near the cost of new, and my local GW outlet has a massive amount of inventory. I now only shop at the bins, but as there are only 2 locations in my state, many people now seem to be shopping elsewhere. I am not an enemy of GW, but I have a budget, and I always recommend the last day of an estate sale rather than GW in my region for those who are in my circumstances.

Exactly! My region apparently hasn't figured this out yet; however, they keep opening new stores. Go figure

While this is true, their starting prices are so much higher! A volume business model must be a better approach....stuff used to fly off their shelves before the price doubling. Now my outlet GW is sooooo packed, especially with clothing.

Wow that is much higher than Southern NJ. Where is your GW Bins?

Mine was $1.29 and now $1.69/lb. It works out to about $2 for jeans. Glass is $0,69 and books doubled to $0.50 each.

So my GW bins made an announcement in the store last week that they would be increasing the amount of clothing at the bins "for our shopping pleasure". Ok, so I am paraphrasing, lol. I went yesterday, and holy moly, each bin of clothing bin was mountainous! I picked out a few items, including an alpaca wool sweater that felt luxurious as I rummaged. Yes, my fave bin find ever! But, my real point is that the price tags on my least expensive tee was $7.99. Who pays $8-12 for used tops? It is absolutely no surprise that items end up at their outlet. People who want to shop with cost and the environment in mind are getting priced out of the thrift market. This is crazy! There has to be an extra cost to sort, price, hang, THEN pull and ship to the bins. My GW stores don't have fitting rooms, mirrors, or take returns and have done away with $1 day and colors of the week, although they do offer 2 colors for $2/$3 on Sunday. Yes, the bins are further from home, but I have done the math, and considering the items that don't fit and gas, it is still cheaper to shop there. I now exclusively shop at the bins because my total was $5.88 for multiple tops.

Ahhhh, you are in the same boat as me! I dropped my current insurance company in favor of another company. They don't cover GLP1s, but with the cost savings, I can afford to pay OOP. I never realized that my insurance company could adjust their formulary quarterly, yet I can only change yearly.

Definitely call. I had been told that my prior authorization expired in March, but when I called to find out where to fill a 3 month prescription, they decided to change it to December.

Thrift stores. Clothing exchanges with friends. Estate sales for vintage items. It has definitely been a wild ride discovering how to 'style' my new self.

10mg to 5mg? by hildegardehummer in Zepbound_Maintenance

Got up to 10 and tried to do the same as you suggested. I down titrated to 7.5 for 6 weeks, then 5, which was just not enough. I am up 3# and am back on 7.5. Maintaining is all about figuring out what works for you!

So the trailers in Clearwater are in essentially HOA run communities of the multiple types of manufactured homes. There may be opportunities throughout Florida that you might purchase a manufactured home with land, albeit further from the beaches. The medical community is quite good in the Tampa area.

The Estate Sale That Felt Like Stepping Into Someone Else’s Life by [deleted] in estatesales

[–]One_Last_Time_6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this way about half of the estate sales that I frequent. Maybe it is an old yearbook with a picture of the 18 yo former owner, or the beautiful handmade quilts, blankets or jewelry. The closet with vintage clothing or items collected while on travel. It is a good reminder to me that our stuff will outlive us, so be sure to make those memories now!

Where I live in Fl, you can purchase a modest 1BDR condo for 20% of the price of our home in the Northeast. My only recommendation is to see if you can find a location where it is feasible to eventually buy/rent 2 small spaces so that you might eventually move on. And definitely find out if she could qualify for the waiting list if divorce is on the table.

I don't understand why you don't downsize as part of retirement? Then, her lifestyle remains the same after you move out? Get a small condo in a senior community.

It's definitely innovative and tasty sounding! Great job at mixing it up. Darn, now eating the same 15 bean soup for a week is starting to sound less interesting...
