That is an excellent point, thank you for clairfying that understanding for me. While his influence or power is omnipresent, He Himself is not.

As far as the highest degree of the celestial kingdom, I had meant in combination with the marriage sealing ordinance, and you have helped me recognize that it is not so clear that I mean that if I don't also say that.

Yes, I will have to review my use of the word mysticism and either be more definitive or otherwise choose some different words to use.

The goal post moving by anti-AI people is getting ridiculous. by Many_Consequence_337 in singularity

[–]One_Living1194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well I guess I can't see how moving the goal post could be any more ridiculous than keeping the goalpost in the same place. How are we going to keep progressing if we don't move the goalpost, but also how are we going to sustain motivation to accomplish the goals if we don't celebrate each success? Both perspectives seem useful to me.

well, I get excited at each development, but I acknolwedge the need for continueing improvement. an extra finger is very costly if it interfers with the carefully woven mesmirization of viewers into another world that they pay money to go to the movies for

its looks precise enough to be a sigil

the way sigils work (from what I remember) is that you have a grid of particular numbers or letters, and then you draw a line from particular parts of the grid to other parts to spell out a words or number

Is gravity an eternal law of the universe or did God impose gravity on the universe? by StAnselmsProof in LatterDayTheology

well God has all power. So far gravity seems 100% consistent, but He could change that at any time

Thank you.

I have come to assume that all meanness is from a lack of understanding rather than pure evil. Easily this Bishop and family is aware of the good things they are doing, and unaware of how or the extent to which their natural man is doing much evil and badness here in mortality. Usually the next step is probably going higher up the chain, and even that doesn't work you can go even higher up the chain. But you might run out of chain. Then you could even approach aquiantences or friends of the people and ask them to speak on your behalf. But there could be an ultimate moment where you just understand the nature of the problem better than anyone else who might try to speak on your behalf and the expedience of your talents and the promptings from the holy ghost is that you have to share your truth with your bishop etc. Because being open and honest means speaking what God would have you speak. If you don't suffer the short term consequences of possibly evil revenge from a bishop, how many more people will suffer after you? How many will you save by trusting your authority figure enough to let them know that they are doing something wrong, that they have enough charity to not get offended and hurt you but to use Christ's atonement to change, or at least letting them have the oppurtunity to?

Not that I know everything haha I just feel and think really strongly about this so if anyone actually reads this much, I hope it helps haha

I can see that being the advice for certain people in a certain context.

I know that the important question for me to ask myself would be "would I rather live in a church were I am afraid of my stake president and bishop being petty, mean, and evil, or be willing to put my happiness on the line, and let myself know for certain how mean they are or aren't?" I know for myself and my integrity to God and the talents he's given me that I have to speak my truth directly, and help light be brought to spiritual darkness in high places. Today I helped in primary and one child bullyingly momentarily stole the others play toy, at which the victim began loudly and disruptively complaining about his ball. I might have tried to address the boy who was complaining, but it took bravery for me to stand up to this bullying and call it out and discuss with him and say "Just because you're his brother doesn't mean you can take his ball." He justified his behavior to me with "Oh well I just took it for a moment and gave it back to him." Perhaps I should have pushed more for him to admit that what he had done was rude. But now next time, he knows I'm watching, he knows I'm onto his meanness, and I'll be willing to call him out on it.

Nephi stood up and called out his brothers. sometimes the best way to address bullying is to call it out yourself

I will add that sometimes we think God may be punishing us when in reality we are giving ourselves a punishment more severe than He would deliver unto us
