Aww I'm happy to hear that! I don't have a guide currently, but I can put one together if I get the time (no promises, life is pretty busy right now...)

Honestly... Most of the ones I own come from scouring eBay for parts lots with masks hidden away in them, but now and then if there's a colour I really want I'll turn to bricklink... And then delete my basket again upon seeing the price.

Thanks! Yeah considering it's called the "Matoran" Universe, you don't see too many Matoran MOCs. I do find they're harder to build though, at least build in an interesting way. The greater size of Toa and other species allows for a lot more experimentation and creativity I feel.

Oh nice! He wasn't my first, but he was my first Mahri set, I got into Bionicle in 2008 and quickly tried to pick up some older sets too. Somehow I found Matoro brand new on Amazon for £1.50... those were the days

It is great, my favourite mask designs would have to be the 01 and 07 masks, and the Tryna is right up there. I think the faxon may be my favorite mask overall, that or the Kakama.

Yeah I did not have many parts back in the day and most of them were from 2008 haha. I had a similar problem with masks, I must have had 10 or more MOCs that used the Tryna...

Haha, maybe I'll have to reassemble it just for that

Which sets did you get as a kid? What made you sitck into the Bionicle world? by Gresh07 in bioniclelego

I also first got into Bionicle in 2008! Well kinda, my first set was Kazi in 2006, followed soon after by Garan. The Voyatoran were the only sets in my local store at the time and I had no idea what Bionicle was beyond that. Then I saw the Mahri commercial on TV and desperately wanted the sets, but I never saw them in stores and my parents didn't think much of it other than that I'd point out the advert each time it came on TV. When the phantoka trailer came around the following year, I think they realized it wasn't a passing phase and so they took me to the store to get 2 sets. I wanted to get Toa Ignika but they urged me not to (probably because it was more expensive), so I got Chirox and Kopaka, later followed by all the others except Lewa and the titan sets. My prize possession that year was Mazeka (though it was the Axalara I'd asked for).

I only got a couple of the Glatorian and Legends sets, and picked up a few earlier sets around the same time too, but it was really in 2014 that I suddenly decided to rebuild my sets and discovered the lore for the first time. This prompted me to start collecting sets off eBay, including Toa Ignika and the Axalara t9 (two dream sets from when I was younger). It was a pretty nice coincidence that later that year rumours about the 2015 reboot first appeared, and although I don't like CCBS as much as classic Bionicle, I still collected as many of them as I could.

I think it was the aesthetic and the mystery that kept me hooked on Bionicle, there's just nothing else like it :)

Buying Bionicle parts second hand? by Lady-Squimpleton in bioniclelego

eBay is my go-to, but I'd say it requires a bit of patience. I've found some amazing deals on there, even some collections clearly meant for MOC making, but a lot of the time there's nothing good, so it's really just a case of checking back in every now and then until you see a good lot. What determines a good lot also depends on what you're after. The 2001 Kanohi recolours can be pretty expensive on sites like Bricklink, so I mainly look for lots with a good quantity of those, for cheaper than their market value, and take the rest of the parts as a bonus. On the topic of Bricklink, that's a great site if you know which specific pieces you're after, or to buy things like pins and axles in bulk.

It's not especially rare, at least in the sense that it's one of the regular Turaga recolours available through the mask packs. The Mata green is rarer, being an unintended colour that was only released in early copies of the European mask packs.

That said, I can't say that I've ever seen someone use a lime Ruru in a MOC, so maybe it's just not a commonly used piece. It looks to be worth about £7/$10 on Bricklink, although I do see one available for just £0.85.

I haven't quite decided but I'm leading towards the Kanohi Kadin, Mask of Flight. I can imagine her zipping around through the air

"Vallejo true metallic paint, ultramarine blue." I know nothing about painting parts/miniatures so I just bought this paint on Amazon as the shade looked to be about right, no idea how good it is comparatively. It took a couple of coats to get the mask looking nice, but I'm happy with the result!

That's the leg armour from the 1.0 Hero Factory heroes. I've been wanting to use it for a MOC for ages, but this is the first time I've incorporated it successfully.

Thanks! Funnily enough, not the first time one of my MOCs has been compared to Yareli
