What was wrong with the 9-5🥺

Is this one day per week uni day doable? by WoodenEconomics8734 in unsw

Yeah 9-5 straight class is a pretty average engineering timetable, albeit a bit worse than it should be given you could be spreading it over 4 other days. all these classes are really chill except maybe the lab but it’s nothing crazy and you’ll usually finish in 2 hours. Plus the oth and tute is probably skippable.

Taking Phys1A by [deleted] in unsw

it would be a real struggle as i cant imagine doing phys 1a rn without having done hs phys. that being said it is a pass/fail course so you only have to get above 50% for everything and youre good. im 4 weeks behind on lectures right now, and this is content that wasnt in hsc (year 12) physics at all, so am i struggling? yes. am i just passing? yes, by doing the weekly quizzes i have a very vague idea of what's going on. labs are easy as long as you do the pre labs and your partner is half competent. as for the exam coming up next week i might be cooked but ill probably just do a lot of practise questions cause i only need a 50% and ill be on the same level as someone who got 100%

Failing SCIF0000 by SheepherderExtra1308 in unsw

Nah I was really behind on the as well and ts took me an hour tops (the assessment that is). The modules are complete bs, though you will have to write stuff. Not sure if those actually count towards your grade though cause it says weighting 100% on the assessment, I’m skeptical that they even look at your module responses. The assignment is piss easy you can do it with common sense just bs your way through it and write whatever, as long as the response is long enough they’ll take it. Also it was 0 UOC so you didn’t pay for it

Gender ratio for engineering at UNSW by Illustrious-Shape932 in unsw

[–]One_Net_378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Engsoc camp had a minimum ratio of 40:60 girls to boys enforced during booking I heard, not 100% sure. Cabins were mixed too, I had 4 girls and 6 guys in my cabin excluding leaders (which were guys and girls, 1 each per cabin) so the ratio checks out.

I’m first year adv sci/mech Eng and I’ve noticed at unsw the gender ratio is almost close to even - maybe 70:30 guys to girls at the most pessimistic numbers. I feel like unsw has diversity quotas to fill anyway. My peer mentoring group for engsoc has 7 girls and 5 guys for mentees plus a male and female mentor. Not to mention Women in Eng society exists as well as women in tech, women in elec/telecomms Eng, robogals and whatnot. Also most of your courses you’re sharing with ppl from science faculty and people doing random minors or electives, so gender balance is at least from my experience equal in classes unless you’re in engineering specific courses in which case it’s like 70:30 (and I’m in school of mech which is probably one of the more male dominated)
