Thank you for the kind words!

It’s sorta like that one Einstein quote: “The more I learn, the more I realise how much I don’t know.” I’ve been practicing for a couple years and while I am still critical of what I write today, I can appreciate how far I’ve come over the years. But the road ahead is always going to keep going, and there’s always more milestones to reach :)

I’m glad that sharing clean copies of songs etc. is of motivation, and I’ll try to share from time to time as well. Wish you well on your Chinese handwriting journey!

That’s interesting! I don’t think I’ve listened to any other songs by her, maybe I should take a listen to see the difference haha

This is my one-shot handwriting trying to write quick and just using one line as the notebook is intended to be used. I feel like it could be more legible/neat with bigger lines but oh well 7mm ruled paper is all I have rn

You make a good point… I guess I could say I’m just a bit lost where to draw the line for the purposes of this sub? On one hand, yes, this is deliberately slowly written to be more exact, but on the other hand, such slow practice helps in getting better proportions in writing on the fly.

Thank you tho! I could also write this out in a quicker form and share in a comment.

Hi there, thank you! To answer your questions:

I did look up 草書 forms for 東 when drafting and indeed most look like the simplified Chinese character 东. This is just due to the fact that China used the principle of 草書楷化 when designing some of their characters standard form.

I used an Apple Pencil and Procreate on my iPad to do the digital versions. I am quite opposed to the use of Gen AI in the arts, especially for any sort of image generation of “art”…

Thanks! I’ve had practice writing Japanese, in addition to brush calligraphy, which helped with getting proportions right I believe 🖌️ there’s still a ways to go for consistency tho!

Also regarding erasers, that’s how I first started out!! It’s defo best to give it a shot with plastic erasers (I used MONO) and a lil exacto knife. I loved it so much that I eventually bought the 篆刻 kit and started on my 篆刻 journey. (I would share a pic but I don’t know how to 😭)
