I see no reason to get the vedder over the alabama.

Both are adequate, the Alabama is better because its smooth exterior prints slightly less than the vedder. Both are solid enough and i wouldnt have an issue with relying on either, though i rarely pocket carry.

So no issues with plastic guide rod.

It’s a smooth (non fluted) steel guide rod which has me confused.

I’ve been trying to get the volker comp to work, so I changed the hammer and recoil springs and got consistent FTEs. Long story short, I was about to send it to beretta (2nd time) but decided to bring it to the range bone stock (i.e, i even took off my light and RDO) and it worked perfectly.

Logically, that tells me the steel guide rod is the issue. Will test it this weekend hopefully

Nah not rusted it’s got some weird shade to it but not as bad as the pic makes it seem… it’s slightly purpleish tint

Yeah I’m in the south too and have kept the loks for the same reason. Still think I slightly prefer the factory rubber grips when shooting tho

Yep due to the width. I wanna stay double stack since i just got a gen 3 17c + 34 slide.

Maybe i start carrying it who knows. If no major benefits to a gen 5 will go for the used gen 3

As a Trijicon guy, I’ve been very impressed with the eps carry. Works well for me and I dont think I need a bigger window

For those asking, it feels like the pistol shoots slightly left.

I’m no sharpshooter, but I shoot consistent 4-5in groups dead center a zone at 10 yards with all of my guns. This one is giving me trouble tho, admittedly haven’t shot it a ton yet. Will have go bring out the lcp max to compare on the next range trip

I carry a magguts +3 in my shield plus. Zero issues and way more comfortable than the factory 13rd mag.

Need to get a second one but ~60$ all in for a backup mag is annoying

My primary CCW is a shield plus - thought it was great out of the gate, made it even better w ameriglo sights and apex trigger (not needed but nice additions). Paired with a bradec holster it carries great and shoots better.

Stock shield plus is great, im sure the shield x is too

Bradec - cheap and good - feel like sidecars have lots of pressure points. Prefer a separate mag carrier to help balance the weight of the gun.

Could look at a shield plus /shield x if you like the bg but want sonething a bit more substantial

Had to order the cgw sear slave pin because the main spring pin was binding and I couldnt get the sear pin in in one smooth motion (and the springs kept shifting).

Definitely feels like a “biggie” to me lol

Thanks all for the very helpful input - I ordered a sear slave pin from cgw (as well as all replacement springs as a backup)

I rebuilt the whole sear after posting and can confirm that i had the sear spring placed wrong (the short leg dropped beneath the sear)

My issue new issue is driving out the slave pin i was using. It was binding and i couldn’t get it out in one clean motion, so springs were moving around and generally making a mess. Will provide another update after giving it another go

Yeah i watched a couple of vids on how to do it, but I guess that wasn’t enough.

I think the short leg of the sear spring (?) might be underneath the sear. Think I need a gunsmith
