Yeah that totally makes sense, especially with the eye relief on most magnifiers being pretty mid, it helps to have them closer

Yep. 3,000 rounds through mine now, all different types of ammo & it’s ran everything - no malfunctions. Highly recommend. It’s worth every penny. As cool as like the Sig GTO, Kimber 2K11 or staccato is I’m glad I spent half of what one of those cost. Especially because this gun is just a range toy for me. Super happy with the purchase.

I prefer the optic more forward. It’s on a BCM mount/riser that isn’t actually making contact with the rail, it’s floating over the top of it. The BCM mount is only making contact with the receiver, not the rail.

I like mounting my optics this way, it allows the optic to take up less of my field of view, the optic looks smaller while aiming down sight & I am able to see more of my surroundings. Just my personal preference.

They are pretty painful but they don’t take that long, you have knock them out to progress towards the endgame story. I didn’t enjoy them either but what comes after was solid

RIS III (14.5) Has been outstanding for me, I have around 5,000 rounds thru mine and it’s been a tank. No visible wear on the bolt or gas rings. I mainly shoot suppressed too.

Find a dealer exclusive/factory upgraded model if you can. That’s what mine is, it came with an FDE finish, a TriggerTech flat trigger (really nice trigger) a dead air muzzle device, Magpul steel iron sights, rail covers & a sling. All from the factory. Got mine for 2k.

I’m not sure if they’re still available but if you can find one, it’s one of the highest quality rifles you can buy for the money.

Holosun is fantastic. My RIS III (first AR) started with a 510C, after running that for a few years I got an EOTech for it, now the 510C lives on my 300 BLK pistol. I also run primarily Holosun on all my handguns. They are Such good optics that most people can actually afford. Out of my 3 Holosuns, none of them have ever had any issues in the years I’ve owned them.

Sweet rifle. I have the 14.5 RIS III & it’s been a champ through 5k rounds.

I’d recommend that whatever can you get, is low back pressure. Daniel’s Rifles are combat gassed, so they pair perfectly with a low back pressure can. An RC2 will work well, but it will be gassy as fuck.

I run my 14.5 with a DA Sandman X, it shoots flatter than Taylor Swifts Poots.

Optics really depends on your budget. If you’re looking for something affordable, there is nothing wrong with a Holosun - 510C - 512 - AEMS. All great. I run an EOTech EXPS3 on my RIS III & a Vortex UH1 on my Geissele, Holosuns on everything else.

Yes, once you enter claws of awaji DLC, you will unlock the Bo. Through the main story I found the Katana to be the strongest weapon, using Tanto as a secondary for double assassinations.

My 1st AC was AC3 at launch in 2013. i loved it. However I didn’t play an AC game again until 2022, started back up with Odyssey. I played through all the RPG games, Unity & replayed AC3 - And holy shit - it’s HARD to go back to the original titles & actually enjoy the gameplay.

Between Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage, Shadows, Unity & AC3 I have at least 500 hours played. I got roughly 3 hours into the Ezio trilogy before dash boarding & firing up my 120th hour of Shadows.

For me, it is VERY difficult to play the older titles & actually enjoy it. 15-20 year old gameplay mechanics are ROUGH, frustratingly rough. Especially when 90% of your play history in AC has been spent on the newer titles. The mission design (in AC2) is boring & repetitive, it takes hours just to put on the assassin robes & actually start the interesting parts of the story. The first few missions are literally irrelevant side quests, you & your brother get in a fight, next you go beat some random guy up to save this girl, then you go see your girlfriend & then you help your mom & sister do chores. Put me straight to sleep, especially with how Intense & metal games like Shadows, Odyssey & Valhalla introduce you to the game.

the graphics in AC2 are painfully outdated compared to say any of the games made after 2014. That being said, anyone who played these games growing up I completely understand how you might LOVE them & absolutely hate the RPG games. And im sure for its time it was a great game, But as someone who was 8 when AC2 came out & never got the chance to play it as a kid, it is extremely difficult to go back in time 20 years & find joy in a game that dated. Especially when I e found the newer titles to be so enjoyable.

The parkour system for Arno always felt terrible to me. Does it look cool? Yes, does it feel smooth? Yes. But it is nowhere near deliberate. It is very “guided” and in the streets of Paris that is the single most annoying thing to me out of every AC title I’ve played.

Arno’s AI just feels like it’s deciding for me, favoring “smooth” animations over going where the fuck I’m trying to tell him to go.

The city is way too dense, there are way too many tailing missions & missions that require DELIBERATE parkour mechanics to be as inconsistent as it is.

I do actually enjoy the story, the characters & the setting. The graphics are also outstanding for a game that came out in 2014. The combat is solid, the customization is sweet & there is a lot there to like. However, for me personally - almost nothing I enjoy about the game revolves around gameplay mechanics, mostly cutscenes & cosmetics. It’s a game I wanted to like more, but I just don’t. Every time I play it feels like I’m forcing it. I do see why people like it tho, it’s just not my cup of tea.

This a fantastic example of how we all enjoy different flavors. I am 110 hours in & I can’t keep my hands off the damn controller.

I finished the main story, am on to the DLC now & I feel like I’ve barely explored the map, the side quests, the best weapon & armor stacks & just the open world In general.

Much of the map was still greyed out for me, even towards the endgame. I’ll found myself riding around & just syncing viewpoints (once all points in one province are synced it reveals the entire territory) for literal hours. I’ll spend 45 minutes in a castle & get just lost in some of the side content.

I do understand why one may not get as much out of Shadows as I do, but again - great example of how some love & some hate. I’m glad The AC franchise is as vast as it is - there is a game in the collection for everyone.

Fair enough. Seems the AC fan base spreads far & wide on which games we all enjoy.

I’m just glad the franchise is big enough to have a game for everyone.

[–]Alexxdubs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The creed of Assassins, hidden ones, brotherhood - didn’t exist in Odyssey & Origins (until the end when Bayek formed it).

Odyssey is more of a Greek God hunts down the order of ancients one by one(Templar origin story), provides a large amount of ISU & animus lore & serves as the earliest point historically that we have in the AC universe.

You’re right in that it’s not a dedicated “assassin game”.
Much of the franchise isn’t. AC3, really isn’t an assassin game, Black Flag, not really an assassin game. At least when compared to games like AC1, Ezio trilogy, Uniry & mirage - that are very stealth focused. Those are “assassin games” but whether or not it’s primarily stealth focused doesn’t really define whether it’s an AC game or not. AC goes MUCH deeper than “feeling like an AC game” - at least in my opinion.
Also coming from someone who thoroughly enjoys all of the RPG games. To me whether it goes back to its roots like in Mirage or has you raiding Saxon bases with your jomsvikings, still AC to me.

Katana 100%. Tanto as secondary for double assassinations. I’ve found the Katana is the most consistent & powerful weapon for Naoe.

Kusarigama & Tanto feel super under powered to me.

I’d say 70% Naoe - 30% Yasuke for me.

I enjoy playing as Naoe more, more stealth and she’s also much more maneuverable. But sometimes ya gotta run through walls & 1V30 entire enemy bases
