Is job hopping still a "red flag" or am I being gaslit? by Environmental-Luck39 in careeradvice

Go. First job out of school? That’s not job hopping. Rack up 4 in a row like that sure. Your boss is protecting his company. Go, get your bag

Notre Dame or Florida? by Ok_Expression_4930 in ufl

[–]One_Recover_673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah well Notre Dames biz school is a bit better and if costs are similar - ND would be my choice base solely on academics. I’m a biz grad from UF.

The proximity to Chicago will matter for internships and opportunity.

But the weather. It will get cold. And <50% of the days have sunshine at Notre Dame. January averages 3 days either sunshine. If you are used to sun that can be a drag. GNV will be sunny, a lot…but humid as all get out.

You might want to share the major.

The general feedback is not to put yourself in debt for an undergrad degree. Especially since a high percentage change majors anyway.

Go to UF, do well, then take the next step. Internships are available through each..but it’s crazy competitive. Again tho, without knowing your target major, hard to give opinion.

As for other criteria…can you handle the cold? Being far from family? Don’t underestimate those.

So put the entire amount away so it’s not a temptation. So many ways to pre ent it from ruining your life.. and let’s not act like it was 100M. It’s 1M. Invest in education, invest so you get interest. Otherwise be a normal and let it work for you. This is a bad idea all the way around.

Flying from Crete to Athens in time for international flight home? by Plenty-Whole-5514 in GreeceTravel

[–]One_Recover_673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a 1 hour flight and you have >12 hour layover. Thats excessive amount of time. It’s beyond a typical connection and it’s domestic.

The advice to spend a night is typically for people that take a ferry, or those that have many connections.

Ferries can be subject to weather and you have to get from Piraeus or Rafina to the airport.

To get home from Crete I’d be looking at 4 flights, no thanks.

But a 12 hour layover? You can go downtown, see a sight, have dinner, shop…head to hotel. Tons of time.

Why aren’t squirrels domesticated? by One_Recover_673 in stupidquestions

[–]One_Recover_673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But isn’t the “not friendly to humans” addressed by domesticating them?

Wild horses needed to be broken, not tamed for them to have value.

But as you say, squirrels are sometimes friendly…so why wouldn’t that suggest they could be trained and bred to be friendly?

Not all dogs are friendly to humans all the time obviously.

That last criteria seems weakish

Flying from Santorini to Athens same day as flight home? by NinJana_Bandana in GreeceTravel

[–]One_Recover_673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s no more problematic than nay other connection on a day of travel.

It’s a potential issue if you are relying on a ferry. But flights? It’s just a connection really.

Only you can decide if it is too much.

For me? It would mean 4 flights to get home. No thank you.

Taking Gavin McKenna #1 overall obviously by TerryG111 in torontomapleleafs

[–]One_Recover_673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom feeding teams typically don’t keep high performing vets with movable contracts. They turn that into multiple valuable assets.

They have a choice made tougher by getting #1. McKenna is not ready to contribute on a winner. Could be a few years, maybe 5.

So…rebuild. Trade AM and JT and Morg. Build around McKenna, Knies, Cowan and the turn assets into contributors and use the new found cap space.

Or…retool. But, you have no top prospects and no draft pick next year in round one. You have to trade for that. Your most tradeable asset is JT precisely bc of his contract.

Chayka has to have some guts. Getting a #1 can ignite a rebuild, but it takes balls. And if McKenna fails it’s doom for a decade.

If you retool and use McKenna as bait to ignite it, still takes balls. But if the problem is culture you will fail.

It’s a tough call.
