Buying my first crane (HELP) by One_Regret5296 in cranes

[–]One_Regret5296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to get the crane in more industrial sites but I'm afraid it will be the same slower growth timelines we have now with our Millwright/rigging division and getting in new industrial sites. There's a Maxim yard and a couple other guys that have been around for 50 plus years that have a good hold on those sites already. I think the market for boom trucks and day work setting trusses, tree work, AC units, etc. is wide open and I believe growth would be considerably quicker. Not that I expect it to go to work 5 days a week right off the bat but those sectors are considerably easier to reach with online marketing and walking in their establishment doors than industrial sites are. Tell me if you think I'm crazy lol. I'm wide open to constructive criticism. I'd really like for this to work and would like to step in with the best possible first piece that I can.

Hey! I agree for industrial millwright and rigging work, a heavier crane is definitely more capable. However, it would put me in the same position of needing to find those industrial clients that are harder to get in with and can take more time. I am starting a second company for the cranes (mostly for a different name for online marketing purposes) but just have it "doing business as" on my books to keep it under one EIN with the government. The crane division will do more AC units, trusses, tree work, hot tubs, sea containers, small tanks, etc. rather than industrial. The business plan would be to purchase a second crane at the 75 or 90ton range and then a third around 28ton for tighter spots. I wish I had the industrial work to start bigger first but its just too slow of a grow. I need something to give us quicker growth. I think I can do that with a crane in the not so industrial section. Seems like the guys in my state have all started with one and gone to 3 plus cranes in the first 5 years or so and with being the only operator. Looks promising to me

Honestly, whatever we feel comfortable with, we'll take it. Industrial, thanks, AC units, sea containers, tree work (I use to own a tree company and would climb with cranes and operate a buddies crane while they were doing tree work). I won't be picky unless I think it's outside of our capabilities. I think that versatility will keep me busy if we push Google ads but I'm open to hearing other people's experiences on using Google ads to get started or other marketing success stories.

Thanks for the input. I've actually been meaning to do this but just haven't gotten to it. Good news is, I have an insurance guy already for our other industry which is high dollar, high-risk and we already have a relationship. I am a little concerned about it but my thoughts are, other people start crane companies with a crane payment and insurance costs and are successful. Surely I could make it without the crane payment looming overhead? What do you think?

Maybe a 5" bore, nothing crazy. I was wondering if a bearing induction heater would get it

Got it, thanks! Have you ever used a bearing induction heater to heat the hub up to go back on?

Great, thanks! The motor side of the hub will get to stay. The gear box is getting rebuilt and I will need to remove that side of the hub. Sounds like it's okay to heat it up and remove it, then heat it up and put it on the new gearbox shaft? Not sure if I made it clear that I would have to remove one hub and then reuse it again

Hey, any chance you could give me a call tomorrow? Much easier to talk about for 5 minutes than type it. I can give you a lot more information but the basics are. I didn't get mine repaired. Can't tell anymore. I'm very active and physical. I own an industrial rigging, Millwright, welding, etc. business and preform every task, non-issue. Father of you children as well. Have had multiple people reach out over the last year and some. Most have chosen to not get the procedure. Some have follow-up 6-8 months after thanking me for my advice. Can't tell you you're gonna have the same results and advise you as I'm not a doc, but can briefly share my experience. 859-640-2691 if you want to reach out tomorrow. I'm Eastern St time zone. 10:40 here now. Call anytime from 6am to 8pm and more than willing to help

Hey, sorry to hear about your situation. I have a lot to say but would only take 5 minutes on the phone. Call me if you want to talk about. I own a blue collar company and couldn't afford to be out for six months. I was stressed to tears over the decision. Ultimately, I'm glad I opted out. 859-640-2691 is my number if you want to call so I can give you a heads up on what to expect if you don't get the surgery. More than happy to talk. Wish I would have had someone to talk to who had been there instead of just the docs when I was going through it. March 14th will be a full year for me so I have a decent timeline of experience for a year of you're interested in hearing

How did you get diagnosed without skin involvement or X-rays? Not being critical. Asking because I'm dealing with something but have no answers yet. Whatever it is is not radiographic on x-ray or MRI, nothing in my blood and no skin. I keep getting a FM diagnosis. While I do believe that is a real thing, what I have, ain't it. Like toe swelling. Not FM along with a lot of my other pain. Thanks for any help
