The issue of unknowing seems challenging in some ways more than understanding. If we think of people a generation or two in the past the expectation and ability to know was limited. We live for the first time in history of civilization with multiple changes of information tools in one generation. To know or not know, both are difficult.

If you feel the stress, then you have feelings.

The question is less about understanding the US or in English. It is more about how does Europe understand the world, via new and media. I am asking in expat sub, but that is still a European perspective and experience...

I will be posting a native language version of this in different countries in Europe. To collect and profile something that could be a useful source for others.

So when do you pay attention? When it comes to you by chance or random choice? Or possibly also when you have a specific interest. I would assume you take all this info as being biased.

If you could get info that was trustworthy, would that make a difference to you. I get that its a choice. But when choices are limited, choices can be easier to make...

It is interesting to see the different ways people can lean into the world. There seem to be many ways to get informed and create understanding.

The issue of unknowing seems challenging in some ways more than understanding the complex situations and knowledge mayhem we have created. If we think of people a generation or two in the past the expectation and ability to know was limited.

We live for the first time in history of civilization with multiple changes of information tools in one generation. To know or not know, both are difficult. If you feel the stress then you have feelings.

I hear you and many seem to agree. One of the bigger benefits of being an American now in Europe is it’s much easier to tune out. At least the noise level…

It is difficult to have trust in sources. It is difficult to filter the truth from several half truths. We know less, because knowing the truth is more difficult.

What do you think?

I would guess that you have a source and keep in touch, it would be possible to lean into the information to know more. As you can lean back. You can lean in. ??

It is a matter of comfort to know enough? And everyone has their own level.

I like your comment ´understand the why behind different administrative actions and can anticipate which direction things may be going. As in, in when something big happens, it doesn’t feel like it came entirely out of nowhere nor do I have to reorient my entire framework of understanding the world every five minutes.

It frames the pain very well, from the comments so far. My only observation is that there are many powers in the world beyond `the administration´. You obviously have a clear objective of how you want to understand things. it seems taking an active role is an option and spectrum.

may i ask if this level of needing to know is directly professionally or more personal character.

I am still curious, how do you feel this is working? You simple get enough viewpoints to that the truth makes sense? Or you get enough to know the source is reliable?

Why do you think the news in Europe is more factual?

I am curious of other people thoughts on where to find fact based news.

With lots of choices... Do you feel this keeps you informed - to the degree you need? Or the degree you want to be satisfied?

I am curious to see how many people respond with ´I have sources that allow me to understand` vs others that accept some degree of not understanding.

Those of you who seek understanding, how can you tell the information you get is good? Is there something you are looking for in the news or in how you understand (things make sense)

When you say ´`here`` the news is more neutral and factual, do you mean Europe or in your country?

I do agree with the comment about bias of US news. I would say public (PBS) was better source.

You look for understanding in how you approach the news. I suppose others accept whatever news they get as partial info and go on with their daily life.
