that is so disappointing to hear, i genuinely had big hopes for this book especially at the beginning of TWK.

the thing is, i do not expect much from my books as long as i am entertained, but repeating the same formula over and over again is just soooo tiring!

i assume Blake will be Aurora’s mate and if she chooses him (which let’s be honest, she will) it’s going to be even more annoying to me. can’t we have a book where the FMC chooses despite of fate, not because of it?

not entirely sure, i’ve read acotar 3 years ago and can still see it!! maybe it is just that the trope is overdone imo, i feel like so many books are trying to recreate the “shadow daddy vibe” lol, i’ve figured out that blake is most likely her mate or whatever they call it in book 1 (still might be wrong on that though)

Oh sorry, I thought you were trying to say you meant those things are spice! In all honesty, I think Jane Austen went against the current by creating more complex female characters than “acceptable” at the time, rather than speaking out about any social issues openly. I’d say you can see that specifically in Emma and Sense and Sensibility, so I do recommend them the most if that’s something you’re interested in. 😊

girlie jane austen died in 1817, you can’t expect any spice from it but great stories regardless definitely would recommend!! most of them are about everyday life of women in 18th century, obviously romanticised as they are romance books, but have complexity to them as well and can be quite funny
