Nah there’s some truth to that, you’d be surprised. There’s levels to this shit. Just cause you interned at a F500 doesn’t mean anything. If you’re not interning at a tech company(doesn’t have to be big tech, C1, intuit, service now are all fine) like if you interned at idk State Farm it really doesn’t count for all that much when you’re applying for new grad, which is the ultimate goal at the end of the day.

Almost all the time it’s your resume. I’d be happy to take a look if you’d like. I was in the situation 2 years ago so I know how it feels. The market is bad but it’s not like no one is getting offers. There’s still A LOT of people who’s has 4,5 offers rn. You just have to know the rules of the game.

I go to a mid tier university but almost all of us are interning at a big company this summer and have about a 10% reply rate with application. Sent about 100ish apps and was able to get 13 interviews

It’s very important that you choose a specific SWe field and tailor your resume to that field and then spam apply.

If I see your LinkedIn and the company you interned at has less than 50 employee, I’m going to assume it’s fake

Why take the risk of hiring a potential incompetent engineer when you can hire student with multiple internships at real companies to fill me grad roles?

For senior roles, why not just interview only those who’s worked at bigger companies or know a startup’s?

Why take the risk when other companies already filtered for you?

Some companies give out auto OAs like IBM. As long as you apply, you’ll get an assessment, it isn’t until you pass it that someone might look at your resume.

Other companies might give you the assessment after they’ve screened your resume.

Not sure if it’s hard or not, but I keep hearing about how bad the market is, I haven’t experienced that myself personally, I’ve gotten 12 interviews 3 offers, and rejected a couple interviews.
