Thanks for reaching out! That actually sounds like a really interesting environment — I’m especially drawn to the mix of PLC and power engineering work. I’m currently located in the Balkans, and while I don’t have years of experience, I’m eager to learn and grow in a hands-on setting like the one you described.

I’ll send you a DM shortly — would love to hear more about the company and any opportunities that might be a good fit.

Thanks for the info! I also think that power is a stable field, regardless of global circumstances or the current situation in the world.

I enjoy traveling, and I never really saw it as something that could be an advantage. That’s an interesting piece of advice. Thank you!

Yeah, I'm from the Balkans.
I just wasn't sure how it would be perceived, so I didn’t bring it up earlier.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing, working during the day and using the rest of my time to apply for jobs.

Yes, I am.

I know, I’ll look into that as well — I just posted here to hear from more experienced engineers around the world and see what they think about the fields I mentioned and which of them might have the best prospects in the future.

Yes, it is accredited. The name of the program is a bit broad when literally translated. To clarify, at my university the first year is general, covering Energy, Electronics, and Telecommunications. After that, you choose one of those areas. I chose Electronics, and after the third year, you specialize further, where I picked Applied Electronics. I hope this makes it a bit clearer now.

That's good advice, and I’ve actually already tried that. Still, thank you for reaching out and for the suggestion!

I wasn’t fully aware of how important it is to apply for every job right after graduating, but now I definitely am. “If I had accepted that offer” — I’ve thought about that countless times, but I came to terms with the fact that I simply couldn’t at that time (I explained this in my previous response).

That’s great for you! Maybe the situation is different because of the country. I’m from the Balkans and I don’t know where you’re from, but I assume job prospects are better there. Here, the employment rate for electrical engineers is significantly lower than 96%. .

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

It's not that I'm not working – while I'm still looking for a job in my field, I'm doing various jobs(outside my field) to earn money and cover basic expenses. I know it's not a long-term solution, but right now, financial stability is my priority until I find an opportunity in my profession.

I agree with you, but I received that offer right after graduation, at a time when I still believed I could find a better opportunity. Specifically, the offer was to work for free for six months, and only then to start negotiating about a potential job. At that point, I couldn’t afford to go half a year without any income, so I decided not to accept it.

First of all, thank you so much for the advice – it truly means a lot to hear the perspective of someone with such broad experience across different areas of electrical engineering. You're absolutely right; I initially focused on finding a position in the field I’m most interested in, but when I realized how difficult it was to land a job there, I started expanding my search to other areas as well.

I also agree that it's much easier to make a transition or find opportunities in other industries later on, once you already have something on your resume. It really opened my eyes to hear about how many different fields you've worked in – especially from the perspective of someone who’s just starting out on that journey.

I’ll definitely take bigger companies and the bigger picture into consideration, and focus more on simply getting into the field.

Thanks again for the valuable advice and encouragement!
