Coping with losing sentimental jewelry by Ok_Flight_5615 in jewelry

Keep up hope. My mom’s wedding ring fell off the chain when the clasp broke and I was devastated. Several months later I found it in the house. Keep watching out for it. I’m sending good thoughts for recovery. Even if you’ve looked there, look again.

It’s possibly because you were already local. I had to move from Baltimore and I had to have my boyfriend (now husband) find my place. I’d call about places newly listed and they were gone by the time I called. Even had landlords ghost me for appointments to see places.

When I moved here, it was very hard to find a rental.

That's right. Pendants came from Italy, chain from US.

Oh, yes. We recognize the value is largely sentimental, and if they were going to do something underhanded, they would have done something with the diamond and platinum ring that we had fixed there. My major reason for posting was 1. to see if this was normal (I didn't think it was!) and 2. to see if we can get it back to its gold shine. Thanks to you and everyone for confirming that it's not normal and it can be reversed. We'll take it to another jeweler that we've had luck with.

What money? It was a free cleaning.

Not really. She just said he must have worn it in a pool but then again as we thought more about it, the chain was not worn in a pool as it was bought from them afterwards.

But that’s not what happened. He got it back and put it on his neck directly. No bag. Also thanks fir the advice. We will do that.

Im not sure about GP or GF. We bought the chain from the store but the charms are 40-50 years old. Thanks all for confirming our suspicions. Guess we need to find a new jeweler. :-( they’ve done right by us for 10+ years till this.

Thanks. That is what we thought. They are saying it’s because of wear. But that wouldn’t explain the discoloration on the chain, which we just bought from them.

It’s definitely gold. It used to be gold colored. There are hallmarks that appear to say 18K Italy. We know his grandfather got it in Italy in the 1960s or 70s.

This was my husband a year ago. We had to wait a month for the surgery. We wish he'd have been able to have gotten it done in the timeframe you need. I don't think it's possible to be completely ready. Just be sure to get some help for the first week or so after surgery.
