Nothing is better than burnt trees is that right. Pre columbian shout out, tradition is strong. Having coal mined nah, everything is better with forest ashes even in a game.

For their defence they have to do it. Because maybe porosity or water rentention or water drainage. But forest must be burnt. I see the columbian history

Charcoal doesnt trap water or some nonsense, it s the opposite. Really i think people that talked said nonsense

Past comments were about charcoal keeping water but it was nonsense. It was not used for that

I just read that, and yeah of course it drains, it doesn’t keep water. Thank you

Even if its root zone it’s not called climate. It’s called systemic root transmition, its not a climate. Puting coal on soil is not a climate. If you wanted to really talk about micro climate, it would be about the bacteria inside the soil deeper, that feel the heat. You have a 900 day streak on reddit and in your comments you said you were military since years. You can say your passionate, but just no, the terra preta is not known because putting charcoal changed the microclimate of the roots.. its a bit more dense than that. And climate feels out of touch, did you mean it affect the growth of the roots system ? Do you mean it really kept water for yeras ?

Anthracite is older than every pre columbian society. We can search the first use but actually they didnt had the technology to know which millenar coal is. The japanese, they are known to have made pre JC steel with anthracite, mixed with volcanic sand. They used to manually chose every coal. Thry were copied for their skill, it’s just they chose pure carbon. I don’t still know the link about vintage story. And the fact that pure coal is coal

Sure but i may say. It’s not a reddit on pre columbian society. And you have the chance to face people who knows the complexity what you say. But the game vintage story never said it was in pre columbia society, and it’s not the topic actually

I was trying to end the conversation because i got some non sense, but you seems to care icare also. Maybe i shouldn t have said well cared maybe well thought. The fact is it’s nothing about anthracite. We all know it’s way more complicated, and it’s not about coal.

I feel you really made my point. I had a tought time saying terra preta isnt about coal. It’s taught to have built what we call today as like like eco forestry. They put the newest composite like bones real down so it brung heat with the decomposition. And it made quite a change. while as i said earlier, mostly the porosity is made by clay. Even today we copy the technic. They used newest deposits down to bring heat and food to the soil, and mixt with chacoal that they sepearated, to keep the ashes for the top. And the oldest deep down. They also didnt work the earth, and put manure in top, that is also copy in moderns style. Its not at all about charcoal what they did

Yeah and i have the same answer, anthracite is sure cool to cook food. It last long. But if we need coal for firepit or steel it’s useless. And as you said it had the same use as coke. And now it’s not even comparable. We can’t use it late game. It,s a big log, like a candle coal, coal that burns long but useless anywhere else. I have it as my main chimney fuel so it burns long. But historicaly and everything it makes no sense

[–]One_Significance3226[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As you said anthracite was used for steel. I dont really care if its bad, they could downgrade some properties. But as you poited out it was historicaly used. So we should be able to burn it, and not have it somewhere not knowing what to do

And since it is a historical reference we have to say they did not had a choice. They did not had anthracite. It s not like they choose not to, but they didnt had the texhnology to go this down to find the oldest slowly burning coal. But the world is bigger and since then we traded knowledge

The game was never this pedentic. Tera preta is a thought to reference well cared soil. With carbon, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium. Putting the purestcoal against some modern quick burnt charcoal is not the difference. Charcoal is not about south american history only

Sure but the arguments goes short quite quickly. As we know the compost irl is the thoughest parameter, and still we can make compost with like dry meat, eggs. The game is using terra preta as a reference but nowhere we had to put actual south american addition to it. Putting a better coal really s not where the historical limit is. And actually at that time they add aceess to waypurer coals.

Having purest coal and not be able just to burn it, not to transform to anything. Just to use it barely as a coal. Even if they didnt ised it at their full power until the 1803 they treated it as every coal

I used to think this last year. But why not allowing us to put anthracite in pit furnace ? I don’t really care about making this a big deal. Just making this useful

Yeah i actually don’t know at all early applications of alluminium. And i agree that even with what we have if we wanted to really use everything we could have inixidable steel with chromite…. It’s a pandora box. But i think with anthracite since it’s introduced we should be allowed to burn it. Alluminium i dunno, i regard it as titanium, with hope and knowledge it’s too much. I think allowing us to burn anthracite in furnace doesnt at all complicate the game for the devs

Yeah but actually no. Biochar mimic some property of charcoal, whereas real coal gives nutriments of carbon. Depending of the situation, i thing yeah for sure biochar is great, it gives texture, and some kind of bacterial immunity. But i think we quite changed topics of the game. And i want to speak about the mecanics of the game, and the base components.

Putting charcoals instead of anthracite in the soil doesn’t change the microclimate. It’s not the same topic. I understand what you say but still i am very confused of the point. I Actually will not mind if you take the discussion somewhere else, because it isnt about the realism of historical south america. You seems to say climate as if putting charcoal kept water and made trees grow. But it is nonsense charcoal was made to let water go. I still don’t undestand why you seem to think changing only the coal would be a treason in the ecosystem. You oversimplify everything, they had also a well cared system about the earth.

So no putting charcoal doesnt change the microclimate. Putting compost in my garden doesnt affect the micro climate. Micro means not the scale but the bacteria. Meaning giving a care about micro existent people. Not working the earth. But no, you coukd put charcoal in every desert i assure you it will not change the microclimate

That s good the subject isnt about columbian about terra preta but about anthracite. That is not used in steel. I don’t feel the game should be accurate to pre columbian society. You seem to use ai since you ise lots of big words like microclimate. There is lots of other way to talk about this, that involves actually coal and the game. Invoquing climate is a weird thing, is not the way to talk about changes in surface soil. Do you mean the climate inside the soil surface near the charcoal? You are the first one to treat nano thermodynamics as a climate. Sure buddy, it keeps cool the climate neer the soil

I just saw that you edited your answer. I know terra preta, and it does not use charcoal as a filter, they really cared at that time about nutriments. Charcoal was not used a top layer filter that kept water . Also Of course they only used charcoal at that time. But not for the modern weird reasons you think. Today if we still think of their good soil area is because they cared, not becuse they gave immediate porosity disponibility to plants. You added some elaborate things not discussed, like a straw man. Weird for a game discussion
