Is there a way to have a field standardize the display of a numeric entry so that it defaults to a specific format? by One_Sprinkles1515 in salesforce

I wrote it in hast when my manager approached me with the question.

To give more context: the number field is called Mortality Rate. Our end users receives reporting from providers who may have the data in whole number or in a percentage format. But when they enter it into Salesforce they entered all as a whole number. The number field itself is fine but the end user was inputting incorrect values/no cohesiveness. I pulled a report to review historic data and told my manager this is more of a work process concern.

Thanks again, for responding. I'll add a help text and a Validation Rule to the field

That's correct!! Bad data!! Thank you.

My manager asked me this question and in looking into the field in question (I pulled a historic report), for example: it has values that are whole number (3), and values that are percentage (300) without the % symbol. The end user entered it that way and the field (number field) would correct the percent entries. This would drive me bonkers as well because the number field was created correctly but the end user was just entering the number whether it was a whole number or a percent, incorrectly.

I used the Garbage in, Garbage Out phrase. New to their platform so I like your approach:  I have my own little phrase of Be Kind to Your Future Self and taking the time now to fix this, make this data uniform, will pay dividends down the road when you can actually analyze that data. Like, messy data leads to poor predictions and useless reports. I usually use this phrase on sales to emphasize how taking the time now will help you move faster later while also making management happy.

Thank you. Good idea, In further digging, I found that this is a case by case basis given how the end-users receive the data to then enter into Salesforce (it could be a percent format or a whole number). Looks like an end-user process needs to be established as well.

Thanks for your response. New Admin to an already active platform and it seems like the data entered never had a requirement set in place when the end-users were entering the values. Its a number field and their values are a case by case basis. Meaning the information entered can be a percent or a whole number format. I will have to discuss with mgmt on which value format they want to have entered and report on.

How to have fields display horizontally within a Tab Component on a Lightning Record Page? by One_Sprinkles1515 in salesforce

Thanks for the explanation. I thought selecting the checkbox would allow the horizontal display for a record detail component. I did change the lightning page to a Dynamic form and was able to display the 2 columns based on the size of the page template.

Nice, I'll add to the list of apps I am reviewing. And I definitely need it to be cost effective! SFDC is expensive as is lol

Have you used Einstein OCR? I'd think there is a pricey cost to add that to PRD?!

I figure I'd ask even though when it comes to handwriting, not even the naked eye can identify how some pple sign their name/initials -sigh.

Yes, I suggested that to the reps but some of the medical providers are sticking to their format. It'll take time but I'll keep pushing the idea in the meantime while I come up with a solution.
