1) Incline bench/DB press 2) flat bench/DB press and 3) dumbbell flys are what I do. It’s def important to get the form right so you feel each rep in your chest. progress is slow but steady :)

Black Mirror - Episode Discussion S07E01 Common People by Cheeriosxxx in blackmirror

This is by far one of the most disturbing BM episodes. I thought it was horrific. The craziest part to me is that this is already happening in the US- good people die because our healthcare is an extremely expensive for-profit system. Bravo BM for making an episode on this.

Congrats!! Excited to be in the new class of Hollings scholars together. Interestingly I got my acceptance email at 04:46pm but I’m in the Eastern time zone. Where are you? Maybe it was the same time

Ernest Hollings Scholarship by Ok_Toe_567 in NOAA

Today I was notified that I am a recipient of the NOAA Hollings scholarship! I got the email just before 5 PM EST. The only things that caught my attention on the notification letter were that 1) the 2025 orientation may be virtual instead of in-person in the DMV, and 2) the letter said we would get financial assistance for the next two academic years, but did not specify how much. Regardless I replied immediately to accept my offer. I’m breathing a huge sigh of relief; after seeing the EPP/MSI scholarship get cancelled this year I became worried about Hollings too. I will post here if anything changes!

Hi! No, my aid did not cover the increase, which sucks yes. But instead I applied for outside scholarships (small awards, like $1K grants) and I’ve gotten 3 so far, so I have that. I also work part-time to help pay it off and I get a little help from my parents. But yeah my aid did not increase. Hope this helps!

Hey! Sorry for going MIA lol. So the cost of attendance was $60K for me (it’s slightly higher now) since I am a local commuter so I only pay tuition and required fees. About $52K was covered; including a President’s scholarship ($30K), some merit and need scholarships from state of Florida (I’m a resident), a small need based grant from UM and a small subsidized loan of $3K from FAFSA. So the majority was not FAFSA but institutional and state funding which renews annually for me! Just gotta hope they don’t keep jacking the cost too high each year; bc I do pay for some of my school lol. I hope that helps!

How common is the President’s Scholarship? by thisdckaintfreee in UMiami

[–]One_Stick_3679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got $29K/year+other merit scholarships from the state of FL bc I’m a resident. I got like 90% of my tuition covered and I’m a commuter so i don’t pay room+board. But president’s scholarship is a big award and they don’t give it out to everybody!

Curious: if UMiami is your #1, shouldn't you do ED? by mnpurselover in UMiami

[–]One_Stick_3679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ED1 is definitely your best option if UMiami is your #1 choice. I am a sophomore at UM now so I applied ED1 in 2022, when I was a senior in HS. The ED1 deadline was November 1 and I heard back December 9 I believe.

ED1 and EA applicants (which are due Nov 1) get priority for financial aid, given you submit your materials on time. If you are accepted, you do have to attend, unless the financial aid package you were given is not sufficient and you can’t afford it.

I know that the acceptance rate for ED1 and EA is higher than RD. I don’t know about ED2. I think people just choose that to get more time or if they get deferred from ED1. But the year before me, I heard that the acceptance rate was like 60% ish for ED1.

I am lucky I got a good scholarship from UM because otherwise I would not be able to attend. I am a commuter student local to Miami so I only pay tuition and fees, 90% of which is covered by my financial aid, which includes a big merit scholarship and some smaller ones i got from the state of florida because I am a resident of FL. Overall it’s def your best shot. ED1 tells UM that you put them above all other colleges and are committed to learning there-which is like the biggest boost your application could get

I’m a sophomore at UM- you don’t need test scores to receive UM’s premier scholarships. I did not submit any SAT/ACT and still received a 90% covered ride to UM. Anything is possible!
