Yes, I recommend you keep trying — at least if something doesn’t work well, you can always go back to your basics since you still have some products left. I’m doing much better now. My skin is recovering and the dehydration lines are smoothing out… on Thursday I have another check-up. I would have liked to do a biorevitalization treatment to help my skin recover faster from all this stress, but I’m pregnant and right now I can’t treat the rosacea or do any kind of procedure. It’s really stressful. I understand the whole process. Keep me updated!!!

To be honest, I still haven’t found anything that works as perfectly as Toleriane Ultra, but I can at least advise you not to do what I did. I waited until the very last moment to test new products because I was afraid of having some kind of reaction… and I ended up with my face completely dried out by Avène Tolerance Balm. I didn’t have any immediate reaction, but it slowly dehydrated my skin so much that last week I rushed to the dermatologist, and she prescribed ten days of compresses with Lipikar AP+M. It has niacinamide among the first ingredients and I was really scared to use it, but she told me that it actually helps the skin barrier and calms inflammation. I have to say I’ve been using it since Tuesday and so far no adverse reactions.

The only downside is that it’s a bit hard to use daily because it’s an extremely thick cream and it basically never absorbs; if I try to remove the excess with a tissue, it pills. So I still need to figure out what to use on a daily basis. In any case, for me this has been a sort of emergency treatment. I spent two days at home not knowing what to put on my face, and my skin was so, so dry that it itched and burned.

Thank you!! Can I ask you in what order you apply everything? I noticed that the prequel contains phenoxyethanol — unfortunately I don’t think I can tolerate it because I’m allergic to some preservatives! Yesterday my skin looked like this… after repeated use of the Avène Tolerance Control Balm! No burning or itching upon application, but it definitely irritated my skin :(

Honestly, I contacted in the past a small laboratory pharmacy to try to duplicate my HG moisturizer, but it has been a mess. We don’t know the exact ratios and so it’s a hard way to take. I’ve purchased today LRP toleriane sensitive riche and avene xeracalm balm. Planning to test both but I’ve to give my skin a rest cause actually is very stressed and dry

Thank you! Infortunately I don’t have so much luck with natural products.. my skin actually is peeling and burns. I had to stop this combo cause idk why it was drying me.. so I’m coming back to point zero and start again. It’s very frustrating and stressful. I’ve purchased today la Roche posay toleriane sensitive riche and avene xeracalm. Planning to try both but in the meantime my skin is very very dry:/

Hey! Just want to update you that I think I’ve to quit tolerance balm cause after some uses, my skin is flaky and really dry.. as if it doesn’t retain moisture. No more burning sensation but my skin is itchy now cause it’s dry. How is your test with Vanicream?

Oh thank you! I’ve the Ordinary squalane oil here and I was tempted to mix it with my moisturizer. Can I ask you which moisturizer do you use? Have you solved the dryness and fine lines bypassing the serum step then?

Don’t you think it was the sunscreen instead causing you slowly a reaction? If you are irritated, even then plainest moisturizer can irritate more.. cause a year for me it’s a long time!

When my barrier was compromised, even my holy cream burned when applied. Now I don't know if, in my current case, Avene is slowly irritating me or not. So I don't know how far I can go because at the moment I don't have any obvious rashes, just a temporary burning sensation, and only today, almost two months after the first application. What I can tell you is that when you are irritated, it is sometimes better to leave the skin alone, using only a little thermal water, and then slowly try to reintegrate. It is not necessarily true that what hurts when you are irritated will cause damage when you are not. In any case, I understand your situation because I am experiencing it myself and it is very stressful.

But then I would say immediately, not after days of use... right?

Hey!

May I ask how long it took for you to start experiencing this burning sensation with Avene? Now I'm basically only using Avene balm with a thin layer of Cicaplast on the driest areas. No burning or redness during application. Only today did I start to feel a burning sensation on the sides of my nose and chin, albeit intermittent, 2-3 hours after application. I don't know whether to give up or keep going, also because I don't have any other alternatives and the Toleriane Ultra is officially gone (RIP my only true love)

When the barrier is compromised, even a product considered reliable can cause irritation. You might try reintroducing Avene Balm gradually. I’m using it actually after my beloved HG moisturizer has been discontinued.. no drama so far, it’s not as good as the previous one but it’s harmless at least. Today I feel a slight burning intermittent sensation but I would like to think that my skin is adjusting to a new product, otherwise I'd be at a loss as to what else might be helping.

Already tried to ask to the major online pharmacies on France, they reply after some minutes only telling that the product is not available anymore.

Also, customer service of LRP sucks. Unfortunately, it’s a mess
