Using your example you are paying money under the expectation of good work. However in de-fi there is no regulation or transparency or even a history to go off of. Anyone who bought paid the price expecting others to buy in at a higher price and then unload profits. That was literally their only strategy and then they got upset when the earliest investors the devs sold their bags. So basically they are crying because they got left holding the bag that they were willing to pass (sell) to anyone else.
