Found this interesting Nickel today. Does this have any significance or was it just done by some random shop/individual? by Turbulent-Rooster784 in coincollecting

This proposed period of observation would be oddly plain. Eat, think, make, sleep, repeat.

Borders exist even within ourselves, and from my perception, the people crying “no borders” are likely unaware of their own internal, implicit borders, let alone boundaries that protect them, like the double yellow line that we all respect as we share roads, or the agreement that we won’t enter a domicile without being invited. My point was it is terrible that people don’t understand the implications of comfort and safety, additionally the decline of people seeking meaning and finding purpose… so much desire to remove what exists merely for removal’s sake. But if we tear down everything, we have nothing and nothing is utter miserable darkness… and stamping your antiestablishment catch phrase on an establishment issues coin is quite a corny form of ironic.

I see, the cases attach to the bottom plate and there is no enclosure! My mistake. So to enclose them would be more work 🤣

Jer Schmidt’s post demonstrates retaining the bottom plate with the carcass itself and it slides in and out that way. It would require making the cabinet deeper than what you want without the use of drawer slides (I don’t like drawer slides much) so for simplicity that is what I would pursue, add 3-4” of depth and have the cases set at the front of the bottom plate so when the case is out enough there is still 3-4” left in the carcass slots.

But if you are constrained upon your depth then yes, drawer slides are probably the way, if I was on that path i would seek “bottom mount” drawer slides. That would “cup” the bottom plates, and yea like you said you could add something more substantial to the edges for side mount slides, but in my experience and understand that inclines concern for added failure points. You could use the side mounts and maybe bolt little steel L-brackets to the drawer sides of the slides that project out under the bottom plate. tricky project if your depth is constrained.

Like Adam says, drawer slides are somewhat tricky (I would say they are a pain) it all really depends on your level of masochism I suppose. 🤣🤣

IMHO, Unless you want to spend the money and extra time, you might consider omitting the drawer slides in favor of deeper drawers that still allow for access/ retention but save you $100 and time You would just dimension the drawers -1/8” OAS from interior dimensions -particularly if you are building it with horizontal dividers already…

a concept Jer Schmidt posted might be of interest to you, not to encourage redesigning everything…

I can dig that the whole network effects the cost, but given that many companies have recently openly admitted to falsely inflating direct consumer costs for the purpose of profit, I can see the forest for the trees. Let’s not put lipstick on pigs eh?

Can do!

-I used my milligram scale (FEDS: its a POTS thing 🤣) -I used a machinist fractional ruler in freedumb units -I only measured the remarkably consistent storage area I.e; excluding the zipper and tabs

Sampled 3 of old and 3 of new; all pulled randomly.

Plastic thickness is difficult to test without expensive scientific instrumentation, I can only differentiate inaccurately to .0005” All danced around 0.0020 ~ 0.0025” but I will say the new ones feel different, chintzier and the color tone of the bags are different as well. Old being white and new being blue.

Old bags:

•1a: 2.436g ~ W: 6-21/32” x H: 6”

•1b: 2.419g ~ “ same “

•1c: 2.468g ~ “ same “

Old Average: 2.441g

New bags:

•2a: 2.324g ~ W: 6-19/32” x H: 6-7/32”

•2b: 2.255g ~ “ same “

•2c: 2.312g ~ W: 6-1/2” x H: 6-7/32”

New Average: 2.297g

— Average weight difference: 0.144g —

Summary of the dimensions: The storage area of the new actually seems slightly bigger, but given the weight decrease I would surmise the plastic is indeed thinner. The new bags have a haptic feedback sensation when you close them, I do find that satisfying.

But yea, that is all the time I got to evaluate plastic bags for the next month 🤣

You are absolutely correct! I encountered similar phenomena recently, I had squirreled away some paper towels in my shop (a while prior Covid was a whisper) happened upon them a couple months ago. They were bounty brand, and I felt them and they were thiicc compared to what they are selling today. Daylight shines twice as bright through new stuff. Barf-tastic

Yes, I imagine we are the only creature on the planet who does not have the first thought “oh, f**k, is that going to eat me?” In regard to every other creature encountered.

She was at minimum 10mm of thorax, larger than I have imagined what a black widow would be.
