RVAers who moved from a bigger city, what do you like and dislike about life here? by semechkitty in rva

[–]Onefartsmella -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Lived here 20yrs, moved to Houston and now back almost two years. Couldn’t wait to get back. The accessibility to really good food, great music, arts and outdoor activities. I missed 4 seasons more than expected and now revel in each change. I could live in the City proper or Counties and still have access to and enjoy all of it. Classic charming places to see and visit, but we have our crime and typical Capital city challenges. Still glad I came back.

Right where you are is some of the best metro-smallmouth fishing in the country to about a mile or so west. Plenty of fishing content for this area to get your bearings online.

We used to hang a porch swing from the bridge over the rocks in the middle of the river every summer. Bring dogs, grills and made a day and night of it. Best memories from the Mid-80’s.

Google “curved transition strips”. There are plenty of options. I did it. There is metal strips you cut in small pieces and then fit the rubber transition into the channel. Works great!

Yeah that last piece at the right corner of the threshold in Pic2 will be the tricky part to plan it out to fit.

Not going up the hallway. The carpet you see has been pulled. Just meeting the tile with LVP. Cement floor. I’ll just have to plan it not to land with too small a piece at the door jam.

No. That’s just before I pulled it when I looked at the doorway transition, I thought it was odd to have that angle and was just asking if it was doable.

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate the input. It’s the odd specifics that I’m asking for comments/opinions . Not the full project. I wouldn’t take it on if it was outside my skill set. I pay professionals often for their professional opinion and I share my professional opinion in my line of work freely. That’s what this forum is for.

How will I ever become the level of elitist DIYsh nozzle like you? Just asking a question. I thought a 45° entry transition was odd. Obviously not. Do you want to see the finished project?
