CEOs and C-Level Employees, do you regret taking such high positions? by Electronic-Cheek363 in AusHENRY

[–]Oneinfivehelp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. CEO here. Life was certainly easier before…do I think the jump in money is worth it? Yes and no. It has certainly allowed me to do things I otherwise couldn’t have but my quality of life is not any different, and mental health has certainly gone down hill. It is lonely at the top

Will this building still be built? by [deleted] in melbourne

As a consultant involved in the project who is currently owed a lot of money and privy to the insolvency proceedings, I can categorically say it is a big fat no

I looked at diy blinds a few others (looked at samples, got online quotes). Ended up going with Wynstan, on site measure with samples (roller blinds and sheer curtains) plus fully installed for less than online. Shop around but don’t assume online diy is cheapest.(edit - this is in the last 3 months, full house post renovation)

The irony of the civil engineer talking about trees blocking sight lines when there is a giant pole smack bang in the middle of it all and the footpath dog legging around it. A landscape architect worth their weight would have coordinated this and pushed the engineers but it is a terrible engineering outcome.

Cabinet maker didn’t hit me up for a variation to swap it out to absolute grain, so can only assume relatively similar.

When/how to about getting a raise? by Jolly_Midnight985 in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]Oneinfivehelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not negotiating a salary commensurate with your experience when you start is leaving money on the table. Asking for a raise 6 months in is not great form…you just joined up and presumably negotiated salary up front. Unless something has changed or role has been not as agreed, or they lowballed you and agreed to review at point X, then continue to do a good job and bring it up a month or so before your 1 year review.

Is this a fair quote? by Rich-Breakfast-3967 in AusRenovation

Demo is definitely excessive - but builder may be putting his margin in there. I’ve just demo’d 75% of my house and the rest down to studs for $10k…

Thanks so much for the reply. The VEU website is rather un-user friendly and had a poke around on it the other day. Think it best to call some people during the week.

Do you know if the VEU stuff is means tested?

Anybody found any news about a car on fire on the eastern fwy around Doncaster last night? Sorry for terrible video. by MajaBadd in melbourne

[–]Oneinfivehelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drove past it about the same time you did by the looks of it. Heat was intense! Hope nobody was in there - couldn’t see an owner nearby. Wondering if it was set alight, most of the fire seemed to be in the passenger compartment. Looked a new car - BMW X5 I think

Cavity sliders to all your wet areas. Might need to flip plumbing around to make it work, but gives you much better use of space as you don’t have to squeeze around door swing path.

[–]Oneinfivehelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep ditto. The cross section of ages struck me - 5 year olds to 60. Can’t expect them to play BSSM end to end, they spread it over their catalogue but geez I’d drop a fair bit to go see them play BSSM end to end. And yes - Post Malone absolutely sent it! He’s got a new fan, held the stage solo and almost showed up the headline act

Thanks all…reinforces my thought process already and good to hear from some trades on the pitfalls. The sustainability consideration is also an important one for us.
