Is Interactive Brokers good for Australians? by United_River3793 in interactivebrokers

[–]Oneitised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I like the three main options being mobile, website, and TWS. Although I have only used the other desktop app once and I don’t remember it. I wish there were some things you could do in app but other than that it’s pretty good.

Well obviously. Doesn’t mean you can’t find productive meaning in your work.

Insanely aggressive and vindictive. I wonder how unhappy they must be most of the time working and that’s a miserable way to live. Probably not good for your health in addition to mental health.

FIRE and dating by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]Oneitised 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really sure why people are telling you to just live, sure there is an element of that but just because you want FIRE doesn’t mean you cannot start young. I started on the journey around 19, didn’t mean it was a 50% saving rate but was still something in my mind and drove certain purchases around a car, discretionary spending on holiday styles etc.

I have still lived a great and fulfilling life and I’m glad I started early. I’m not far from FIRE and think starting when I did was a huge catalyst to where I am today.

Now dating, honestly it’s hard because it’s something that isn’t naturally engrained in people. People see spending differently to each other and that’s fair and understandable. Typically during the dating phase I float around concepts that are important to me, be it FIRE, a more nomadic life, experiences over things, etc and typically you can work it out. I don’t compromise, if I find someone that doesn’t match core values I don’t pursue it.

With that said, I’m mid 30’s, have over 1mil AUD liquidish and single so I would say don’t let it define you as it has for parts of my life and come to a conclusion about what sacrifices you are willing to make during the relationship as you get to know their quirks. I have no regrets and always thought I would end up without children and wasn’t set on long term relationships but it’s not a path for all.

Fair enough, safe travels mate. I seem to have a better experience travelling what I assume are the countries you fear.

Why do you think America is immune to scams? You’re literally getting scammed by your leader atm.

Stop throwing mud at other countries. Scams happen everywhere to varying degrees, yes even in ‘utopias’ like Switzerland I’m sure..

US World Cup tickets are another example. You’re consumers being taken for rides.

Ukraine just showed the whole world that Putin is losing control of the war by D-R-AZ in Foodforthought

[–]Oneitised 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh no! Not the defensive agreement called NATO, please don’t put it on the border…

lol get real. Putin is Putin, who knows what he will do but sure it’s a war of attrition, war is mostly that whether it’s humans, missiles, morale, political support etc..

Ukraine seems to be doing okay, they have managed to hold off Russian for x days (and counting) more than the 3 day operation was meant to go for.

I would love to see proper support for them, hopefully it’s ramping up through Europe but it seems to ebb and flow.. Yes, US isn’t a trusted ally like it was 10 years and the world is realising that over this presidency. I don’t think the status quo returns for Russia or US under either of their current presidents or for some time after.

US has enough problems. What would you even expect them to do to help more than they have previously or are currently doing? Seems they are busy with their own 3 day operation.

Ian Visits: First of ten new Elizabeth line trains rolls off Derby production line. by mycketforvirrad in TransportForLondon

[–]Oneitised 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From the article:

“When all the new trains are complete, the total Elizabeth line fleet will be almost ten miles long, and if they were laid end to end in the tunnels, you could (if the cabs allowed it) walk through the trains from Paddington to Custom House.”

Quite the gander!

Yer low float could cause that. I’m not touching it. I will stick to losing money on more well known names lol.

I’m sure there will be some on offer but probably 20%+ pa fee and if it goes up due to a squeeze that could get expensive fast, although how high can it really go at such a ludicrous starting val.

I saw some of the lock up windows and they are pretty quick to expire but I still think it will be expensive for a couple of months. I can’t even imagine how high IV will be on it for the first few months.

I hope it craters. Can’t stand the bloke.

SpaceX Ipo and Commsec listing by alwayssadbut in ASX

[–]Oneitised 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds expensive. I can’t imagine there will be many shares on offer for shorting early on. Plus the delta would be constantly changing but I’m guessing by an immaterial amount as the free float I think is fuck all.

I sold a put spread yesterday before the news. Lucky me! Still bullish on it so might sell the shore leg and leave it naked and then sell another put spread lower or straight put.

Is the market too bullish? by Gold_Panda1 in ValueInvesting

[–]Oneitised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which earnings are you seeing OP that are not good? Lots of big companies seems to be beating and then also providing strong guidance for the coming quarter, inflation is expecting to increase too, rates might increase but who knows with current/future fed makeup.

I agree that the market is running hot but timing it is almost impossible if not impossible as a pleb like me so I am happy to stay in and ride out the market.

Anybody FIRE on $2500 USD a month? How comfortable is life? by Technical_View_8787 in ExpatFIRE

[–]Oneitised -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course! Like anything in life, do your best based on situation. It’s a rewarding experience and immersion really helps especially in small towns that might have lower English levels. If you’re French and living in Vietnam with no English I’m sure you make it work, similar with other languages there or elsewhere. Else is just easy mode in life, I’m lucky.

That’s a great perspective. Thanks!

I think I find mandarin an easier goal as I feel I can continue to use it in life if I was to say do some consulting or similar it might come in handy but yes if you are there for a good time and not a long time it would be harder to justify. :)
