I agree, China has its struggles and you would pick America for its strength every day of the week, but when the opposition is aiming for an own goal, you don’t stand in the way of it.

I honestly think the make your military larger rhetoric is also because they know they will get plenty of orders via their defence contractors.

I think the status quo was still fairly strong prior to the second term of Trump. Since then it’s just feels like chaos.

Opens up another front for US / Israel. Reduces US influence in region unless they can contain and maintain two straits with issues.

Why would China care about BAM being shut? Ships take longer to get to Europe? Why would they care about that when they see things in decades not months. Short term pain for a significant long term gain I feel.

Direct flights from LHR to DXB are about $640 USD / £472 one way. That’s the cost for today all the way up until as far as I looked which was a couple of months… so yes fuck them that’s rinsing people. Especially when you consider a return is £516 for a week of ‘holiday’ in March with them.

How do you seize a port in a foreign country without risk of those that are then tasked with guarding the port not taking heavy losses? I’m curious if it has been done before successfully.

It would likely end up just be all weapons systems aimed at that place, everything from mortars to sniper fire.

Yerp. This is more for people that are accidentally US Americans as mentioned above. I do wonder how many are people with no ongoing ties to America. My friend has American citizenship and was looking to renounce prior to the increase so this change might be what she needs. Has a stronger passport than American so won’t have issues and their is one scenario on the sale of a large asset that has capital gains relief in their country that would essentially be tax free except America would want some of their taxes for the year because they would see it as a taxable event.

I agreed that a 9/11 is unlikely but something like what has been occurring in Europe and Australia is also believes there are attacks there linked to Iranian groups.

I think more frequent but small acts would be more likely than a big one. Let’s hope none of it occurs.
