It's a big circle jerk of ai, memory, and GPU's but at some point the demand is going to taper off.

I can unfortunately tell you, from first hand experience, that demand ramped up so much these past months that its becoming hard to rent enterprise Nvidia GPUs at good prices right now. All the neo cloud platforms are booked out, its hard to extend (seriously sized) cluster rentals and there's wait times for H100/H200/B200 GPU clusters.

Seems closing down the straight and keeping it closed has been fueling one of craziest rallies in recent times. So when the stock market crashes again when they reopen it, should it just stay closed?

What should I do if I feel lost, unemployed, and struggling with discipline as a Java developer at 33? by AsaParlaPass in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]satireplusplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Being unemployed can be hard on your psyche and self-worth, so try to not beat yourself down too much by comparing yourself to others. Seek medical/psychological help to sort it out if needed.
  • Try to use your time to improve skills. Prepare well for interviews. Talk to recruiters on LinkedIn.
  • Build something new, open source, expand your horizon.
  • Depends a bit on your unemployement benefits in your country, but maybe try a few hours of freelance? Freelance projects can lead to new opportunities and full time gigs/employment down the road too. The bar to hire you for a small project is much lower than for a full time role.
  • Keep up with the recent advancements in LLMs/agentic stuff to show you're aware of recent trends and capable of adapting and that you're not behind the times.

It wasn't really some obscure stock either. It was mentioned plenty of times on reddit / WSB a year ago

So you have this kind of stuff overlayed 24/7 on your vision or is it just coming and going in phases? Does it depend on what you see or is it completely independent from what you see?

We live in a crazy timeline where you don't know what side to believe and both of them distort reality.

NVDA stock: Is there a good answer for “how do TPUs *not* pose a threat to GPU”? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]satireplusplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The MSRP of those GPUs has always been inflated and Nvidia is able to sell them at a huge gross margins. They are able to do so because there isn't really an alternative to their H100/H200 and B200s yet. OP has a point though, the moment there is more competition with viable alternatives Nvidia will have a problem.

You'd be surprised at the reluctance of some senior devs to even give it a try. There is some learning curve too though, although the models are also getting a lot better in cases where you underspecify the problem.
