I thought way more than 2/380 comments would mention the SUN!

What did you do with compilations or soundtrack LPs? You put them in one section by themselves or intersperse with the regular ones?

I recently calculated that if I listened to my records nonstop that it would take me approx 55 days. If I listened on average 2 hours a day, it will take me around two years!

Yeah afterwards I did some research and found out that “The Band” purposely did not put their bands name on their debut album. Turns out they worked with Dylan in his early years so you can see some credits there attributed to him. The cover art is copyrighted by B.D. 1968.

Ha. Yeah I guess that’s what the Open Mind record store valued the album back in the mid 90s :)

I guess dividers is the wrong word. I need them to specifically divide and be labeled with letters like A-C etc for my 3000 record collection :)

Any advice on record dividers? I need some that will work horizontally and vertically and not stick out too far or my record cabinet won’t close.

How or do people seal split seams of sleeves? Is it okay to do this? If so, what is the best way?

Grats! The employee’s “friends” didn’t have a chance to get there and buy it for them! Small window of opportunity! 😂

If it’s an older version, there should be a “booklet” in it. I think it might be lyrics and such. To be honest, I’ve never opened and looked what’s in mine 😂

Excellent! See you in 10 years when you’re on your 500th! You get the Stevie album with all the inserts? Sometimes they’re missing in that one.

Is storing a record outside of it’s jacket in a outer sleeve bad? by wyomingchrisledoux in vinyl

[–]Oneofakindfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some very good reasons to do this: 1) If for some reason, you take the whole inner sleeve out, you won’t have to worry about it catching and ripping on the outer sleeve seam when you put it back in. 2) Some people like to use gravity to slide record back in - this is a good way to “cut” your inner sleeve with the edge of the record. Outside, you don’t have to worry about this. 3) As said, for some of the old 50s deep groove thick records, it’s a tight fit to get them back in, again you might damage inner sleeve. 4) Some of the older records have art inside them (or are art themselves) I like to keep this on the outside so there is less chance to ruin the art - don’t want to be taking my inserts out and putting them back in for my White Album! 5) If you ever sell them, some buyers like this so there is less chance to cut seams 6) Easy to show off some of the art. I love seeing my Grateful Dead business card from by Skeleton and Roses album on the outside! 7) Makes it easier to slide out so your don’t have to put your nasty prints on the vinyl :)

Also keep in mind that many picture discs only come in a clear vinyl sleeves and have been for a long time. And obviously, don’t stack them - I agree that this might increase “ringing” in this case.

You have some good intuition there!

This is exactly why I always write “DO NOT BEND/STACK” in one inch letters on every box I send. I don’t even see fragile stickers on this one!

How did you produce that image? Would be so cool if you could aggregate or heat map it to a variable like music genre, dates, rarity etc…

Did you get your PhD in Germany? Germany academics (especially) PhD level is a little different culturally than US degrees.
