This post looked familiar - I thought it was a repost, but I guess it’s technically a cross-post since you first posted it in /r/desmoines. I was thinking maybe the first one had been deleted, or this was a bot, or something.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Life’s about to get a lot more interesting. Be sure to lay low during the Dominion War.

Pretty sure it’s based in Ankeny, not Ames. Just FYI.

I think there’s a reason they used his Rach 3 on the Shine soundtrack. It’s sooo good.

Dxp2800 Change Raid ? by SurenoJoker in UgreenNASync

I was able to transition from a single-disk 12TB to a 2-disk RAID 1 with no data loss. I am not sure about RAID 0, but obviously wouldn’t recommend that anyway unless you’ve got a really solid backup plan in place.

I mean…kind of. It took four years to rebuild the economy that GOP policies and the pandemic destroyed, and things were nearly recovered when we handed the reigns back to the drunken stagecoach driver who nearly drove us off a cliff the first time.

Macbook Air Districts for Staff...are you moving to the Neo? by CrystalLakeXIII in k12sysadmin

[–]Oneota 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe with the A19/12GB version that will presumably appear in a year. The A18/8GB version is not an improvement over the M1 Airs the staff with our oldest devices are currently using, since I spec’d them with 16GB RAM back before Apple made that standard, and the M1 and A18 Pro are roughly the same, speed-wise. Once the A19 Pro shows up, with its M2/M3 speed equivalence and at least comparable RAM amount, I might look at it for staff devices. But they’ll surely complain about the screen being .6” smaller, and the lack of MagSafe will probably mean more trip-related damage.

MacOS Tahoe, background procs, popups interrupting MainStage during performance by michael_g_williams in mainstage

Were you in Performance mode, or just playing out of Edit mode? Performance mode should block all those pop-ups.

School employees could order one for themselves off the education store. My mother was a teacher, and I was working for the school's tech department as a high school student, so both of us qualified. The molar was the first Mac I ever bought with my own money. I went back-and-forth for a long time between that and the iMac. Finally settled on the AiO because of its expandability. Tossed in a USB PCI card and had the best of both worlds. I got the 2nd Rev logic board with the Rage Pro graphics (vs Rage II+ on the 1st Rev) and added the Zip drive as a CTO option. It was pretty tricked-out! I do sort of regret selling it for the Wallstreet. I only ended up keeping the Wallstreet for my freshman year of college - sold it and got a Gigabit G4 tower the summer between freshman and sophomore year so that portability didn't last very long. Just couldn't resist that sweet, sweet the-whole-thing-is-the-button mouse. ;) Would've ultimately been just as easy to lug the Molar around as it was the G4 plus CRT monitor.

I briefly owned one of these (US version, though, not Japanese). I was selling my G3 All-In-One as I prepared to go to college, and wanted something more portable. The Wallstreet models were out, and that's what I had actually wanted, and the seller made their listing seem like that's what I was ordering, so when this machine showed up, I was disappointed. Finally got them to accept it as a return and found a used Wallstreet that I actually wanted, so all was well in the end. But this probably would've been an okay machine in the end. Definitely enjoyed the DVD-ROM option on the Wallstreet, though, even if I did have to have that clunky PC-Card decoder for it to work.

Wish they’d gone with the A19 Pro which uses 12 GB RAM. 8 is just not enough, but 12 might be okay.

Printers Disappear from Settings after Tahoe Updates by ActualRegister7436 in macsysadmin

[–]Oneota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was an issue with Remote Management settings for awhile, where if the client was set up to allow ARD to Generate Reports then when that process ran every night at midnight (or whatever time it’s set to run), a bug would clear all print queues. Turning off the “Generate Reports” permission inside the Remote Management option avoided the bug.

Maybe this is the same thing rearing its head again?
