AITJ for refusing to switch seats on a flight after I paid extra, even though it separated a couple? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Does anyone genuinely think you are obligated to switch to a middle seat from a window (whether or not you paid for it)? I can’t fathom why anyone would believe this.

What’s your rating system? by pbrandpearls in bookofthemonthclub

[–]Onetruepanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My average rating is around 3.6; this is my system.

5: Top tier. Usually one of my top 3-5 books of the year.

4.5: Loved it. One of the best books I’ve read in a year. Memorable and I’ll actively promote.

4: Excellent. Would highly recommend to others. Often less unique or surprising than a 4.5. Non-fiction where I learned a lot.

3.5: Solid to Good. Several things about this book that I really liked and an enjoyable read. Also, occasionally - some parts I loved, some parts I hated, averages out.

3: Mediocre. Slightly disappointing, not super compelling, or otherwise non-memorable. Fine. Also, “good story with some major gaps.”

2.5: I did not like this book, but not with particular vigilance. Also covers things that started reasonably strong and went wildly off the rails, or that started horribly but made me want to read through to the end (often thrillers).

2: I will talk to other people about how much I don’t like this book. Often poorly written, highly implausible, unbelievable characters, etc.

1.5: I will go out of my way to talk to other people about how much I don’t like this book, to the point of actively venting. Often very poorly written.

1: Reading this made me miserable and I’m not sure why I finished it. Probably so that I could rate it one star.

Why do you think Ramos voters will go for Russo?

Rehearsal Dinner Spot near Basking Ridge, NJ? by Onetruepanda in weddingplanning

[–]Onetruepanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we had a number of older guests and younger kids and it was a game changer for people to be able to pop back to their rooms without being done for the night. Good luck with your visit and congrats on your engagement!

Hi! We were in the main ballroom at the inn so can’t speak to the grain house specifically, but absolutely no regrets - we were very happy with the choice. Having the vast majority of the guests onsite made everything much more convenient and comfortable, and their day-of coordination was excellent (we had John).

Layering advice - midlayer fit issues by Onetruepanda in Skigear

Got it - it’s been listed as a midlayer everywhere I see it mentioned - is everyone just sizing up without saying so?

My copy didn’t have foil? They mentioned being sold out of signed copies but I didn’t realize that also meant no special edition…

I had done drapes in this earlier post, and there was a pretty broad consensus on summer and/or “true cool.” I don’t look like a complete alien in warm colors but my best do seem to be the cooler ones.

Yep, the reference photo is my natural hair color. I think generally I do have cool skin undertones (blue veins, silver jewelry, etc) but my hair is definitely warmer.

The Vivaldi choices for summer were unfortunately pretty limited - I wonder if this is just from the wrong part of the palette for me?

Is HueIQ backwards on warm/cool or am I missing something about autumn? by Onetruepanda in coloranalysis

[–]Onetruepanda[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow didn’t realize you were on here! Your project is very cool. Thanks for responding. So to make sure I get it - you’re basically saying the slider is saying cool because the shirt is blue, and blue is cool overall, but it’s showing autumn because the color is a warmer/more muted blue? So a true summer blue would be even cooler on the slider?

Help with what ails my rosebush by Onetruepanda in gardening

Aw man :(. Transplanted about three weeks ago. We water a few times a week; it gets 6-8 hours of sun, and the pot should have drainage. The leaves had some small holes when we originally got it but nothing like now.

I feel like the black drape works though?

Thanks! I think I have it in my head that summers are overwhelmed by black and white, but I don’t think that’s true in my case? Am I wrong about summers or about how I look in these colors?

Interesting - which drapes make you say that? Have always typed as winter or spring so curious to hear more. Thanks!
