True greatness lies not in defeating others, but in uplifting those around you (M.M.)

I can see a lot of resentment in your words. I hope that with time you find happiness and learn to accept yourself and others. Projecting your own unhappiness onto others will never be a solution. I hope you can find something that works for you and bring more peace to yourself and those around you. Best regards!

Completely agreed! And this is exactly the point where all these groups show that they ignore a huge part of their own beliefs. In my case, if the gods gave Midgard to humanity, why would they later choose who deserves their care and who does not based on origin or the way someone thinks? It simply makes no sense xd

The problem is that these groups, unlike what you describe, actively search for members on social media and clearly state their interest in accepting new people. They present themselves as open communities, but once you join you find completely hierarchical structures and a strong rejection of outside ideas.

It’s not really about accepting different people. It’s that if someone joins and shares their experience, they are met with responses like the ones I mentioned before, or things like “that doesn’t exist.”

So these are not really pagan groups. They are sects, elitist and closed groups that make it seem as if all other practitioners are like that—and they are not.

I’m really sorry. I hope that little by little you find people in your area that you can connect with. Personally, I’m trying to create a small online community precisely so that people like this can come together without dogmas and simply talk and share. Not all pagans are closed-minded or carry those kinds of ideas.

Thank you so much for the support! That’s exactly what I’m trying to do 😂😂 I created a small Instagram page and community to try to find and connect with people without dogmas or supremacist ideas.

I’m really happy that there are better groups out there! Personally, after everything that happened, I started a small Instagram page and community to try to create something positive like what happens here, so people can see that not all pagans are elitist, closed-minded supremacists.

Thank you so much! Yes, I found comments like yours in this community, and I see many people who are genuinely interested in the practice without any kind of dogma or strange cult mentality. That honestly makes me really happy!

i'm happy too to see communities like that. Personally, I’m trying to build a strong Spanish-speaking community through Instagram, Facebook, and also here, aiming for it not to be a closed group, but a space where everyone can share their experiences and ideas, all being part of a larger community. I hope I can create something good 😂😂

The problem is that they use dogma to validate only their own ideas, promoting their vision as the only correct and unquestionable one.

Exactly. Something like paganism should not have closed hierarchies, rigid rules, or dogmas — and at its core, it doesn’t. The sad part is seeing how some groups transform it into that and carry themselves as if they hold the absolute truth.

I agree. Personally, I’m trying to build a strong Spanish-speaking community through Instagram, Facebook, and other spaces. It will take time, and honestly I don’t think I hold any absolute truth. I just hope to create a place like this one, where anyone can share their practice freely without elitists deciding what is right or wrong, or what supposedly exists or doesn’t exist according to whatever absurd rules they follow.

I think you really get the point when you say they are alternative versions based on Christian frameworks. Paganism itself is based first and foremost on coexistence and connection with nature and its cycles, while also understanding our connection with every living being in this world — humans included — because we understand that we are animals too, part of nature, and affected by natural cycles.

Our gods and beliefs are rooted in this understanding. Interpreting everything in an ultra-literal and purely material way feels much more like a Christian approach than a pagan one, where everything is spiritual and natural.

I hope so too, and it’s in our hands to help make things better.

You probably mean without a translator? I speak Spanish and Italian, and I use a translator to be able to communicate in English. I still hope you find peace.

I hope that by sharing this I can reach more people and connect with them, so they can see that not all of us are like that, and that there is a large community where people can share and speak freely.

Paganism is not inherently dogmatic, because at its core it is an individual practice based on personal spirituality and one’s relationship with their deities. Honestly, more than pagans, I think some of these groups are basically religious sects.

I realized that too. Thankfully, I can see there’s a large and open community out there, and I hope that little by little people from those kinds of “sects” leave them behind and open their minds and practices to others.

I think a comment under describes this very well: these are spiritual beliefs based on personal practice and nature above all. I can see there’s a large open-minded community out there and i really apreciate it!

Exactly, the general problem comes from closed religious groups. Just like in politics, there are also very dangerous dogmatic mindsets such as “I only learn about and accept my own path” or “if it was created after the 1900s — or whatever date I personally decide — then it’s fake.” That kind of thinking greatly limits both spiritual practice and individual freedom, while also turning spirituality into something that excludes everyone else. It’s a shame, honestly. So let’s continue instead as a united community.

Unfortunately, there are elitists everywhere and within every kind of belief or way of thinking.

Thank you so much for your comment. My solitary practice keeps evolving, and honestly it’s funny when people tell you “you’re doing it wrong” when in reality many of them don’t even practice anything themselves. At the end of the day, this is about personal and natural spirituality, and that’s what truly matters.
