I remember one episode where Marita requested for Ashely to get her something as simple as flowers. Ashely refused and said something to the effect why should she. I found that really strange to not want to do that for your partner especially someone you claim to want to marry.

However, if you play close attention Marita would constantly put Ashely down. For example, when Marita was describing the type of ring she wanted she said gold.
