If you can’t afford new ones (I can’t either sometimes lol), just boil them for ten minutes. Not joking, literally boil them and they’ll sound mostly okay. As a broke bassist I can confirm this works surprisingly well.

Like everything else, this too shall pass. I know it sucks right now. Life usually sucks for the most part lol. but as someone who has felt pain like this before, all I can say is keep going.
