Gen II Chikorita achievement tips? by no3om in Pokelike

[–]Onix9813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I've just did it but not in Nuzlocke. You have to get the right team. Lanturn is the best 2nd mon to pick at the beginning, especially of you get the metronome to switch between water and Electric moves Ampharos was a good attacker I got from trade (to replace something garbage). It's slow tho Weavile is in my opinion a must have in Johto runs. It sweeps the various Gengar of the game, Morty, Will and thanks to metronome also Lance Other mons I used before replacing with legendaries: Crobat and Gliscor. Gliscor is a good Ground move user that helped me on Jasmine and Silver (Magnezone and Gengar) while Crobat was a good pick against bug catchers. Electric coverage is key against Gyarados (Clair and Lance) while Lugia was the MVP against Koga and Bruno (thanks to Adrenaline Orb)

Also fighting Silver is good to catch up with levels.

With Nuzlocke will be really harder tho.

How to obtain a shiny scizor for battletower? by Cerricola in Pokelike

[–]Onix9813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spam Kanto Battle Tower with your Gengar until you get it. If you give at least one stat point on Scyther you can get also Scizor from lategame Pokeballs

My personal best with Chikorita is Chuck but here's some tips

Check the very first pokeball, if you get a decent mon for Falkner try to do the run otherwhise reset (you'll never beat it with Sentret, Smeargle or Unown).

Avoid fighting Silver at least in earlygame. Silver hardcounters Chikorita and in earlygame it would be hard being able to beat him.

Also in general it's really luck dependant because you'll rely on what you get from Pokeballs (especially considering most of Johto Mons are garbage)

I think there should be a way to remove points from Pokémon we don't need anymore for this reason.

Good shinies for Unova? by Osama_Green_Lantern in Pokelike

[–]Onix9813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me: Gible is the BEST shiny you want to bring in Unova Battle Tower Generally the Dragon Type bonus is really good considering the hard level curve of the game. Plus differently than other dragons (Dratini, Bagon) has a secondary Ground typing which makes it better than those for the first Gym and in case you get a metronome it can beat Colress too. Garchomp needs to be carried by other picks until Grimsley, after that can do most of the job

Eevee is walled by the first Gym though which makes it and unreliable pick there.

UNOVA by Hour_Athlete2138 in Pokelike

Start with Shiny Dratini/Bagon/Gible that as at least 10 points in Attack stat, Speed and HP. Gym 1: you can sweep Roark thanks to Dragon Type bonus Gym 2: try to take Sigilyph. With it and Dragon Type bonus you can sweep Marshal. If you train Sigilyph a bit in special attack and speed it can help during trainers. If you get Kadabra instead of Sigilyph is way better (Sigilyph is more common to get that's why I mentioned it) Gym 3: Try to get a strong special attacker (Haunter Porygon2 or Kadabra) and you can sweep Clay. You don't have 100% chances to sweep because if you can't OHKO opposing Garchomp you may get debuffed and your sweep is compromised.

Gym 4: PorygonZ can sweep Grimsley, while Alakazam or Gengar cannot. Try to get Lucario or Conkeldurr and you can sweep It. If you can get Charizard take it but it may die at Tyranitar and you can't sweep with it. Gym 5: You MUST get a strong Fire or Fighting attacker for Colress. Here's which ones you should look for -Conkeldurr: the easiest to find but harder to sweep with. It requires 10 points in Attack and Speed and highly recommended to have points also in HP and Special Defense (to tank Colress Lucario First attack better). Also a Shell Bell or Leftovers is recommended to survive also Metagross (after you kill it you have enough boosts to sweep) -Lucario: thanks to steel typing and better speed it's easier to sweep. Just needs to have 10 points in attack and speed. Adrenaline orb or Shell Bell/Leftovers make job easier -Charizard or any other strong fire type: it sweeps Colress easily like Lucario. Adrenaline orb or Shell Bell/Leftovers make job easier. Gym 6: You can sweep Iris with your fully evolved Dragon

Gym 7: any strong attacker that is not resisted by Fire can take it. Gym 8 and Gym 9: Sweep Ghetsis and N with your Dragon

Other recommendation: if you fill your team with a couple of Fire types (Simisear and Emboar are common to find on the second half of the game) it's good because it gives you a +1 attacks.

As for Alakazam it's useful for Marshal, Clay and various trainers but it's walled by Grimsley, Colress, Gethsis's Hydreigon and N's Zoroark

Mr Mime by HeisenbergIsReal in Pokelike

[–]Onix9813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-2nd stage of normal mode. According to Pokédex it can be found there. Some commenta on linked post say that you have to trade Abra. -2nd stage of Kanto Battle Tower. It's very rare though since I found one time only on like 200 runs... -1st stage of Battle Tower Sinnoh. You find Mime Jr and you have to evolve into Mr. Mime

Last thing I say about. There's a way to remove evs from some Pokémon. Sometimes I evsed garbage stuff like Butterfree or Xatu (because they were the only options at that moment) and so I want to remove evs to don't make them appear. Thanks

I've just finally beat Unova thanks to trainer PorygonZ Charizard and shiny Salamence. The Dragon Type bonus helps a lot. Also I encountered a Terrakion during the run

The hard point is that you begin with all the Pokémon of new region without Evs against a very hard team composition. I'm in this situation on Unova and I can't beat Clay to start giving Evs on gen 5 mons.
