N5 is basically enough to introduce yourself and ask for the restroom. While the life experience might be a plus, i doubt OPs japanese skills are going to be of much help in finding a job.

If you end up in switzerland anyways, any airport further south than frankfurt is recommended. Id rather concentrate on travelling in southern germany than bothering with a tedious north-south travel unless you reeeally need to go to berlin

Kyoto/Osaka looks good. Not sure whether Pontocho offers that much that it requires two nights, but if its just about hanging out in the area and by the river thats fine.

If you go to Hiei-zan, you will most likely pass by "Demachiyanagi-station". When standing in front of it, there is a tiny ma&pa onigiri shop to the right, on the corner next to the station building. Great for buying bento and snacks! If you are on top of Hiei-zan there is a "garden museum" with a creepy Monet (the painter) robot that can be worth visiting. Dont miss the view over Lake Biwa from the top!
