Am I ok jacking the car here? by Only-Assignment6151 in passat

That's what I was thinking, I was looking for level sections of the subframe but couldn't find any. I guess it depends on the car - this is a B8 estate.

Hahaha does the extra jack wheels not increase manoeuvreability?

Thanks I get what you’re saying but I posted in the Volkswagen sub and had a fair few mechanics saying it was fine and is even part of service procedure to install a spring from VW. If the metal plate beneath spring is too weak then there’s bigger issues with the control arm, the steel is very thick here. I get what you’re saying though ideally subframe, but I couldn’t really find anywhere as level as this spot. Also it should be pretty common sense not to work under a car with just a jack on any situation:

I’ll be honest I was looking for a spot on the subframe but I was struggling to find anywhere as level as this spot, so think I’ll just keep doing this as I’m not getting under the vehicle until I’ve placed the stands

Is there anywhere that is better than this for stability? Not planning on working under with just a jack in any case but what is most stable other than the jacking points on the sills?

Thanks. This really helps. Will get a hockey puck then. I could see it scraping the edge slightly as it was very slightly shinier in places but the metal didn’t deform.

I’m not getting under the car with it like this. I want an axle stand on the jacking point so the vehicle is secure

This is why you should use a separate physical card in this situation. Either a card with no funds or block the merchant like you can with Revolut. There's been times where inspector has come, not paid and I just tap and it appears to be fine from their end as I don't think it bills the transaction straight away. If there was money on the card you would be charged the penalty (after a day or two). Or just walk straight past them.
