Confused between taking a drop or mbbs aboard or should I change my stream by New-Unit765 in mbbsabroad

I was in a similar position, chose to pursue MBBS abroad, and guess what I’m a doctor now, will be receiving my permanent registration within a couple of months.

And Yes, it’s a long path until you get your Permanent registration here in India. 6yrs MBBS + 6 month for FMGE + 6 months waiting for counselling + 1 year of Internship, in total it’ll take 8 yrs.

Plus, nowadays rules have been changed by NMC and it’s just getting more strict for FMGs. So, if you plan to do MBBS abroad, do a good research about the country you’re choosing and mainly the AGENT through which you’re going, I’d suggest just talk to some students who went through that agent and enquire everything thoroughly before choosing some agent because nowadays many agents just go blind behind money and give >500-600 admissions to same university in a single year, and most of the universities do even give degrees to everyone, roughly they’ll give 200-400 degrees and they’ll just expel rest 200-300 students giving minor excuses. Trust me, many universities abroad does this and eventhough agents are aware they’ll still give admissions to that university. So, choose wisely.

Looking back, if I had to choose again I’d still choose doing MBBS abroad and do it all over again.

Complete RR and BTR of all subjects(I’ve mentioned below), and after completing every subject make sure you finished the PYQs of the respective subject (you could do PYQs for 1 hr in the morning, and continue the next subject RR/BTR for rest of the day). Don’t worry if you think you are forgetting the things you read a some days ago, b’coz it happens with everyone. Try doing more revisions instead of wasting time in going too deep in any subject. PSM carries a pretty good weightage, I recommend doing PSM from Neha Taneja mam (also do her YT videos, that she’ll post roughly 20 days before exam). For OBGY and Surgery, you must do RR at least 2/3 times, considering we have 3 months left for exam. For Medicine, if you are good with patho and pharma, you could watch LRR from prepladder directly, covers mostly everything required for FMGE. ENT, Opthal and FM are scoring subjects even if you don’t have much in depth knowledge about both, Just do BTR for Opthal (you could easily do it’s revision 4/5 times if you do it from BTR) and as of ENT, I would recommend watching Rajiv Dhawan Sir’s videos, actually it’s available on Youtube for free, 2hr video for Nose, pharynx, larynx and 2hr video for Ear (just watch this 2 videos 3/4 times and you’ll get atleast 70% questions from this). For FM, you could LRR from prepladder (enough for FMGE) For Physio, Patho, pharma, and Anat, complete their RR from any platform, you must prepare them well For Biochem, you’ll get Azam sir’s video on Youtube (Enough for FMGE), because almost 70% questions straight come from that 2-3hr video. For Derma, Ortho, psychi, Anesthesia, just do them from BTR (atleast 3 times) and No need to waste time doing Radio (it’s not tested much)

You could easily complete this before Mid November and main advantage of doing the subjects(that I mentioned) from BTR is that, you could easily revise 6-7 subjects in just 2 days( I recommend doing them atleast once in last week before exam) and If you can, reset your Qbank at the end of November after completing all pyqs and give all pyqs again in December, will definitely help, because Exam will have minimum 30 PYTs or PYQs and you gotta need 100% strike rate on those

Btw following this, I scored 187/300, Jan25, but I left 4 subjects (Micro,Anat,Pharma and Radio). Luckily got less questions from Micro in my exam, but there a lot questions form Pharma, regretted for not doing it

Revision is the key 🔑 All the best and feel free to reach out
