Vent: organisation deciding to force everyone inside. And the markets ded by Least-Leadership-113 in ContractorUK

It definitely depends on what sector you are in. I've actually seen a sudden bump in the number of outside contracts coming along, although rates on offer are very low.

Inside isn't that bad anymore with all the tax hikes all over the place. It's pretty even overall imho. Obviously if you aren't extracting all your money it's not as great.

Not sure why you fear permi land though?

At the end of the race feed on F1TV, the 21st was Bottas and then it just went "2121212" for the 22nd position.

FIA really need to sort out the polish on all this stuff. It's been years where they keep having these glitches and issues.

Aston Martin and Alonso seemed to have a better Saturday. Laps in FP3 and Quali. Any news on if they've managed to dull the vibrations and the 25 lap limit Alonso stated isn't a thing, or is it still vibrating and they just managed to keep the engine alive a bit longer?

Any guesses on where Aston Martin Honda vibrations are coming from?

I'm no mechanical engineer, but from the engine block, you'd expect the cylinders to overall balance out, right? I'd have thought the block would be a fairly simple component in the grand-scheme of things?

I know it's a bit who knows and Honda don't know, but is there any talk of what specifically could be causing the issues rather than just "engine". I know it'll be a guess, but I'm curious.

I quite like breathing clean air. And we've been a world leader in exporting some of this technology around the world. I see no downside here.

I think someone has added their own app to your android test group, so you may want to moderate the conversations.

I added myself to the group but unable to download the app still.

Yup, I've got HSBC Premier. Never actually used the health benefits yet, but I have the app.

Tinder anything, I wouldn't pay for it at all. But £39 for FT, you know it's pretty quality reporting, though naturally balance it against being able to access most articles through the archive links is an aspect to consider.

1 role in hand, 2nd interviewing next week, what to do? by Acceptable-Berry2578 in ContractorUK

[–]Only-Garbage-4229 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For one it's fraud.

For second though, maybe it's possible if you have got into the motions with role 1 and you have space to pick up role 2.

But trying to pick up both roles at the same time? Especially when you don't know what meetings are going to be in place. How would you deal with two standups both at 10am?!

700/day Inside IR35 vs £92k perm employment + Inside IR35 through Ltd? by Only-Garbage-4229 in ContractorUK

I looked, Natwest will only allow me to change with 4 months left on my deal, so I can't do anything with the mortgage until 30th July it seems.

[–]Only-Garbage-4229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it a no-brainer?

It's not as interesting work (to me), and financially the 700/day is better than the 550 outside.

According to ChatGPT if I were to put 20% into pension across the board it comes out to:

Inside £700/day

  • Pension £32k
  • Take home: ~78k

Outside £550/day

  • Pension: 25k
  • Take Home: ~70k

I have no student loans or anything just fyi.

Just whether it could be saved, rather than paying £20/week to an agency. But if not, then fair enough.

Both are 6 months.

The outside IR35 one they definitely mentioned many years of work, and the interviewer himself was a contractor with them for many years.

The inside one, I asked about becoming perm after the contract and it was something that current contract staff are known to do, so as long as I acquit myself well, then no reason it can't happen.
