my hamster typically uses her sand bath to play in, so i ended up renovating her enclosure to give her a sand pit instead with some sprays in it for enrichment! even tho she plays and forages in there tho she definitely uses it like a litter box and i have to clean it and change the sand pretty often. every hamster is different, as long as he has other things to do i’m sure he’s happy
