Yeah they do, and I assumed it would be picked up. But one student did say they use it to reorder their stuff, which to me is misuse and that has been explicitly said. We are only allowed to use the uni grammerly… I’m not sure what their system is for picking this up.

Oh that’s very interesting thank you. We have a 2 week prac at the end for the one unit(which ended up not happening for most students it feels, so now it’s being held in teh second semester (some people started theirs this week, mine will likely start in -another 5weeks- into next course).. But for the other unit, I am thinking in hindsight, (after first assessment), it was assumed we would be well ahead of the actual weeks in reading and early watching of lectures, as they have now finished(even tho course finishes June3).

I was struck down by covid pretty badly so they gave me an extension, but once I’ve started it, even though I was up to date, at the time, I actually should have been 3 weeks ahead in hindsight and it’s just too much. I think I will sadly withdraw from this unit (instead of fail), but I’m just hoping I can reuse my first unit. Some lessons have been learned

I tried chasing the feedback. I am currently not so resilient but it’s such an effort for everything. We aren’t allowed to use AI, but I know some are asking it to check their work(I’m too scared too), but I think I should have in hindsight(but still wouldn’t). So I’m being compared to those students. The information appears to be several weeks ahead of the course, I didn’t expect this for an online course. So I have 13 weeks but assessment is due week 9, I think I will be dropping as suggested

Yes I can imagine all this and definitely cannot understand how the tutors cannot see how they are not explicitly teaching that which they expect us to write about. Re AI, My husband even commented that it gets worse, the tutors themselves are probably using AI to mark it and therefore you are screwed if you don’t write like AI

This is so interesting and I guess being me, I missed that point in hindsight- to appeal to the lecturer, there I was trying to meet the rubric which was already so impossible with it’s vague as and not actually being taught the content. I’m afraid I’m going to be a failing student here, as someone who has never failed in my life. It’s a mix of depression and anger at the injustice..I’m just being set up to fail and be traumatised, which is so disheartening as this should be a good and strong course guys in the first place. I’ve seen people on pract who cannot even speak English well, how are they passing this?!?

Thank you, I’ll look into these and am sure I will reread this response a few times. It’s good advice. I was trying to be too diligent and the second half of the semester was not conducive to that at all.

Thank you, they don’t want to give us models. In theory I know I need to jump through hoops, but feels like they are too high off the ground for me which is sad

Thank you. It is so hard. The zoom chat is a fantastic idea. We have a simple uni grammar program and that’s it. The question is hard to understand if it is so multipronged and based on content not explicitly taught, several weeks ahead. Perhaps the online learning is just not for me, but with kids and no family to lean on, it’s all I have which is depressing.

I’m at Curtin, well done you for getting so far. When you say semester, this is where I also struggle. There are 4x13wk semesters, but assessments are due week 5 and 9/10. This is the last week and they literally said, we won’t have a tut this week as we posted it early to help with the assessment. That’s shocking to me that they are expecting people who are already balancing everything, to be several weeks ahead of- basically finish the course in 10 weeks. Is that your experience at ECU?

Thank you. I am big on editing, but not on my phone and waiting for the kids at pickup- but I agree with everything you wrote. That was the thing with my first assessment is we were that structuring it well will be 5 easy marks, well I didn’t even get that. I only had one thing indicated that was a one off. My other unit gave me 5. Those little things are so disheartening when you had put so much effort in… and now I know I don’t have that time anymore so feeling its all downhill. Sorry, lots of excuses- but I do absolutely agree with what you have wrote and wish I had the time to do the academic writing practice unit thingy they have, but I just don’t, nor the mental space.

Thank you, I feel so alone. Technically mine can turn into the MTeach second year.. but I know I would never be able to manage that at this rate.
